Wait, you can pay sub fee with in-game cash?
Yep. If you are very wealthy you can buy time cards from players for 500m-600m ISK. Its a secure trade so you can't get scammed.

EDIT: Also if you are good at poker you can play on a fan site that gives out ISK if you win, of course you need to put your own ISK so you can risk losing millions even billions.
Is 500M ISK a lot? I know the game has billionaires...
It can buy many things but players in EVE consider having at least 2 billion well off.
Thanks for the info.

Woah 500m where have you been shopping? I pay max 310m for mine.

Also you can easily make 5-10 millions per hours of playing when you start flying battleships so about 2 hours a day and you can pay for a month when you reach that point.

Either way, is this even legal?

Yes. There is a programmed credit shop on the website so you can securely trade credits. Some people make their in game money that way. Buy low sell high.

Yup the devs set it up to fight isk-selling, it's called plexes.

errrr...
I may not be as "evolved" as fans of eve but I prefer less complicated games.

My personal favorite

Honestly, it comes down to what you want. If you want a game where hours logged = ability in-game, then get WOW and have fun grinding away.
If, however, you want a game where everything that you do affects the world in a very real way, then get EVE. You blow someone up, they lose something, whether it be ISK (cash), their ship, a rare gun or module, maybe a collectible. And they lose it forever. If they have the ISK they can get another ship or whatever, sure. But they lost the money to buy that replacement. And you get to keep whatever they dropped.

People say EVE is boring and slow... it is possible to fly a cruiser by your second day of playing. While only actually logging on and playing the game for a few hours.
To put things in perspective size-wise, let's say that the starting ship is the size of a bottlecap. A cruiser is the relative size of the bottle.
Fun fact: by the same comparison, a Titan is the size of a house.
No joke.
It has good graphics, good for it. Otherwise, it looks stupid :p
OT: Get Team Fortress 2. Well worth the money. Even if it isn't an MMO, get it. Amazing game.
Pfft. Everybody has TF2 by now. And it was worth it before the updates, it's gotten boring since then.

I have found this game to be very interesting for some time, though I've been unable to commit, as I already have over 1,500 hours logged on GW. And I don't want to give up my achievements and time spent there.

Here's another EVE question: Does it play more like hard SF, or space opera? In other words, is this game more Honor Harrington or more Star Wars, in terms of combat?

Seems the most... In depth MMO I've seen, seeing as that some guy stole 200Bn credits(or whatever the currency is) from E-bank and cashed them in for around 3000 pound real world money

I don't know much about it, but if I was to play an MMO, I would play EVE. Dust 514, an FPS which is said to later tie into EVE (Link [http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/60030]), really excites me. If I were you I'd buy it only because it has giant ships in space.
