This usually occurs in Pokemon games when you have done everything and are...

...ulp...

...finishing your pokedex...

Only with Call of Duty 4. I was playing it at release, enjoying the multiplayer, but now I can't go back to the online because I realized how ball-breakingly frustrating it is to grind 55 levels.
it isnt very bad. i kicked my way to lvl 55 in 3-4 weeks. just always have a class free for your favorite weapon if your getting killed alot.

World of Warcraft. I don't even know if I had fun. I'm glad I quit.
same here. i think the only reason i started playing was peer pressure because loads of my other friends were playing it, then after an update the game graphics broke and i havent been bothered to find a fix. Anyways i think like that for most games i play and i cannot come up with a justifiable answer

After my fifth time conquering Europe and the Middle East, slaughtering hordes of Mongols, shattering the power of the Papal States, and otherwise establishing myself as King Bastard of Medieval 2: Total War, I sometimes ask myself that. And then I get back to loving every minute of it. :D

Viva Piñata. Or maybe I'm just gay for playing that game in the first place.
Viva Pinata is awesome. It's also disturbing as hell. Think about it when your pinatas do the "romance dance"... with their own offspring. Then you feed them to some other pinata so it can "dance" with a newcomer.
Yeah.

But OT: Every game that has kicked my ass has made me think this. I either quit them, or persevere. Oh, and the usual suspects of course. Sims and other games where you really don't achieve that much. Playing Railroad Tycoon 3 now, and it's not much do you there... Still, I play it, and I enjoy it. Weird.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is high on my list. I find something wrong with AI which, on normal difficulty, can get a perfect headshot on me from 100 feet away with a pistol without laser sights while I'm rolling.

To you guys saying mmo's, you really get a VERY pleasing feeling when you finaly ahcieve a goal you have had for months!(yeah I went there >.>)

OT: Pokemon, the game is just the same thing over and over and over again and you can't level more after reaching 100 wich you will in no time.... so why the hell do i still play it everyother day after 7 gosh darn years?

When I wasted 2 months of my life with World of Warcraft, I had to convince myself "it's not a waste of money" during the last 2 weeks. Then I quit- for good.

Almost all the mmos I've played and yet I keep playing them hoping to find one I actually like.

World of Warcraft.

Its a drain on money, a social destroyer, and a devourer of souls.

So why do I like it so much?!
Reminds me of this:

OT: I can't remember ever having that moment, probably because I've never bothered with MMOs

Oh wait, Diablo II...
Aww man I was ninja'd to posting that video up, oh well I guess it doesn't matter too much, but I'll admit that Animal Crossing took up alot of my time when I was younger. I used to rent it from the video store but now that I have gotten older, I rented City Folk and I asked myself the question of why I liked that game so much?

Also this, as much as I do like the Pokemon games, it takes way to long fill the pokedex, especially trying to catch all the legendaries.

Gears of War 2 multiplayer. Every second all I can think is "What kind of masochist am I to play this shit!?"

Then I realize what the answer is; achievements.

Oblivion. Spent at least 200+ hours on one character. Why would I do that? I've done the quests and found almost all of the locations. Why the hell should I carry on playing?

I get that feeling with every game at least once. Sometimes even TF2, though it largely depends on how well I'm doing.
Most simulator or "slow, gradual progress" sorts of games give me that feeling when it feels like I'm working towards a very distant reward. Also, any game that is just retardedly difficult without giving me an indication of what I'm doing wrong. Conversely, there have been some games that have made me WANT to play them even more precisely because they're so difficult (ie, some of the tougher challenge modes in Batman:AA)
