ever been so lucky (or I suppose good) that you've been accused of cheating online

I got blasted in fear for being at the top of my team using only proximity mines and my pistols. I think they claimed I cheated to make my proxies invisible? I just set up traps.

Wait for them to charge your flag mine the choke points. Then make a scene of getting into their base using only pistols. They run in through the tunnels, boom. When you hear the boon place another set of mines in the flag room. Steal flag and let any survivor get near flag room. Pot shot then run out a door which forces them to use flag room. Boom.

Not my fault they didn't look for the proxies. I loved mines in their flag rooms, I found all the areas people didn't check.

haha, yeah once. I was playing Warcraft 3 way back when and I was never very good, but I did have one match where I was actually winning hands-down. I was the undead, so I had been using Shades to stealthily scout the battlefield. I was getting a little cocky so I taunted him a little about his troop positions. Whoever this guy was, he apparently didn't understand how I could know that, so he started accusing me of hacking and then throwing racial slurs at me. It was funny and then I won, the end.

a buddy of mine playing one of those korean fps games had a 50/8 kd ratio in one game needless to say he got banned
Asian gamers are unbeatable: MYTH = BUSTED (as if it needed to be)

OT: Probably. I rarely afflict myself with having to listen to in game chatter. I also haven't played multiplayer (aside from Nazi Zombies) for months now.

I got accused of cheating a few times back when I played Shogo: Mobile Armor Division. The game was so different from other shooters on the market that skills didn't really transfer, and it was made worse by the fact that by the end point of the game's life, the skill level needed to compete was off the charts; I was a mediocre player -- by the standards of that community. By the standards of people who found a copy and decided to hop online thinking it would play like Counterstrike (or Quake, for that matter -- although those guys were better off than the CS players), I was the freakin' angel of death, and the players who were better than me may as well have been God himself. I remember one time in a free for all deathmatch, it was me and two noobs (I wasn't sitting in a noob server or anything; I don't remember that game ever having more than 3 active servers, and usually only one of them was active at a time), and my kill death ratio wound up being something like 50-2. Needless to say, one of them absolutely rage quit, thinking I was cheating. I kept telling them that I was actually a mediocre player, and they just didn't know how to dodge incoming fire while keeping their own aim steady, but they didn't listen.

It also happened on another game purely by luck, but I can't for the life of me remember which one it was; I'm thinking either TF2, BF2, Quake Live, or HL2:DM. Anyway, whatever game it was, there was this guy who was accusing anyone who happened to be better than he was of cheating. It was pretty funny, because I was terrible at whatever game it was at the time, and he was still accusing me of cheating.

I rarely get accused of cheating online - draw your own conclusions on that-, but I was once in Quantum of Solace. My character was equipped with extra armour and didn't die as easily as some would have wanted.

I've never been openly accused, but it certainly looked like it once in a warm up for a Counter strike Source game, there were a bunch of enemies standing on a window frame looking away from me, I simply ran up and backstabbed each of them. Because they were so close together, I got about 5 kills. From the feed of kills, it looked like I was using some kind of hacked ranged knife.

I apparently have a pretty decent trigger finger, because I was accused of having a modded controller using the FAL in MW2. Funny though how that never happened in Black Ops, even though I use the FAL there too.
this happens to me as well, also I'm really good at headshots (especially in Halo), so I had some people accuse me of aimbotting a few times.

Actually got kicked/banned from a Battlefield 2 server for a good run. I'd barricaded myself in a decent killzone with an enfield as a medic and shot everyone stupid enough to run into the funnel, also got really lucky and point blank shot a flanker in the head before he could knife me. So apparently 10 kills from a strongpoint means im cheating and was thrown off the server...

My one foray into MW2, anyone walking around with Double Rangers in close combat is liable to get abused. As in getting two headshots with one barrel of a Ranger in Skidrow. I'd like to say here and now, I had a 13-9 k/d ratio in that game, it was fluke, moving on.

Oh, and Congrats OldGus, always love a good anti-cheat.

Quite a lot, but only in MW2... I play decently, or good. Well, it depends what you think "good" is. Anyways, i don't really remember of ever being accused of cheating in other games...

It's happened to me really, really rarely. Most of the games I play online typically have one or two very high-scoring people in each game, so I think people are more used to the idea. I find that this tends to happen far more often in games with semirandom matchmaking, when you don't have servers (since almost all of these employ some sort of ladder).

Think about the number of accusations of cheating that get thrown around in games like Halo versus something like TF2.

Lacking servers also tends to lead to a lack of a policing culture for actual cheating - when you have a server, you can report someone and typically the admin will require strong evidence of cheating. So you don't just say "look, that guy has a high score, he must be aimbotting", you spectate him and look to see if his aim is actually flipping and locking on or if he's sweeping his cursor near the enemy and magically firing only when it's on the enemy. Then you take demos. And once you've seen actual aimbotters, it's very easy to tell them apart from even very good players.

Because console games tend to have these structures that fail to prevent accusation of cheating, you get a really funny situation where people are incredibly more likely to accuse everyone of cheating when they're playing on systems that are incredibly harder to cheat on.

In World of Warcraft I was once accused of being a twink, when all of my gear was stuff I got from instances and quests.

I've been accused of wallhacking on Call of Duty 4's PC incarnation. Serves me right for, you know, paying attention to my surroundings. Also accused of aimbotting in the same game, by the same guy.

Yep, Modular Combat (half life 2 mod, google it). It wasn't luck, though. If you're familiar with the mod, then you'll understand what I'm gonna say:

I created a suit made specifically for deathmatch, and upgraded it based on that (damage resistance, increased damage, health/armor/ammo/suit power regeneration. All the upgrades that made the suit completely independent, no need to stop for something). My gameplay style was having my finger pretty much glued to the sprint key and using a shotgun. Oddly enough, once I got going, I *always* aimed for the head. I sprinted everywhere, got real close, and *BLAM*, two barrels to the head. If that didn't do it, I pumped another one in (since he'd be nearly dead, it didn't take much effort to aim it in his/her general direction and fire an extra shot). To say I was good was an understatement. If I recall, I got about 20/1 KD ratio using that suit. Although, it felt more like instinct than skill... Anyway, that was about 3 years ago, and I *think* people accused me (can't blame them, considering how I played), but I'm not entirely sure. I remember there was this one guy who was terrified every time I tried to change to the game mode to deathmatch, hehehehehe... I remember trying to recreate that suit roughly a year and a half ago, and I definitely remember someone accusing me of hacking, even though my gameplay style was similar.

Thinking back to those days... Poor souls...
