I did once for a local sci-fi convention. I was Green Lantern. I used some of this specialty paint that you can use on clothes and used it to change an old green long sleeved shirt and green sweat pants into a reasonable facsimile of the character I say reasonable, but it probably looked a lot worse then I remember. It was a few years ago. I've been meaning to give it another try sometime.

Anyone else?

Yep, many times. My avatar is the main character I cosplay as, though I change it up for Darth Nihilus in the summer months.

Do you also emulate the voice?

Not that it's necessary, but Vader is one of those cases where the voice is as iconic as the costume, so making both part of your cosplay seems like something to do, if only for the bonus authenticity points.

No. I've wanted to, but I don't really have the resources to put together a decent costume. Also I've never really gone to a big con so I've never had to opportunity.

I've done it the once. I look weirdly like the guy who plays Dare Devil in the netflix show, so it was just a case of sticking some red laminate on a pair of glasses and wearing a suit. The only downside is that people who aren't familiar with the series will genuinely take you for blind and start offering to help you cross the road.

I always wanted to go as Johnny Bravo, and probably will once I've figured out how to make a body suit that only inflates the upper half.

EDIT: Oh shit, I have a convention this month. Better put together a cheap Sterling Archer Costume.

Yeah, pretty much once a year only though because I only go to one convention. Which I'm going to this Saturday!

This will be my forth visit, I've worn the outfits of the protagonists in Attack on Titan, Persona 4 and 5, in that order. I decided to be lazy this year and just wear the same thing as last year, higher chance of more people taking photos of me. I'll post some selfies this weekend, if anyone is interested.

I would love to, but never have. Mostly because I lack the time, talent, and resources to make costumes; don't personally know anyone who does and lives nearby; and have never been to any conventions anyway.

I'm very amateur at it, but I've cosplayed 3 times, 5 if you count when I've reused a cosplay.

The first time I was nervous about it, so since most people said I reminded them of Nathan Explosion I just dyed my long hair black, put on a black t-shirt, carried around an empty bottle of bleach with black finger nails, and wore some combat boots.

And then I jumped to something much more complicated. I wanted to be Geralt of Rivia.

It involved a wig, makeup, and an incredibly hot costume during one of the hottest days in Baltimore.

It was sort of a disaster, and a success. First of all, I didn't have the skills to make my own costume entirely, so I actually bought a cheap costume from a website, and gutted out the parts I didn't like and replaced them with more authentic pieces. I replaced many of the shitty fake leather pieces with real leather, including a badass scabbard to hold both of my swords on my back, a few belts I picked up at Walmart and made adjustments to, completely replaced the "boots" with boots from a Ren Faire I had, borrowed my friends Witcher 3 medallion he got from a collector's edition of the game, and we tried to replace the silver mesh that was used to look like chainmail with handmade chainmail, but it was such a daunting task that I didn't have enough time to really finish it.

A couple of painted LARPING swords, some scarring makeup, and a wig covered in bobby pins and spirit gum because I didn't get the right size wig later, I was fully dressed. In several layers of clothing and fake leather, in heat reaching 100 degrees Farenhite. Yeah, I needed a lot of water and a few breaks, but I had at least 20 pictures asked of me, and I had a lot of fun.

And I learned so much during the process. Like how to take proper measurements, how to make chainmail, how to sew properly, to bring a repair kit just in case something fails, and drink a shit ton of water. I even wrote an article about cosplaying for beginners: https://culturedvultures.com/beginners-guide-cosplay/

I have cosplayed twice in total. Once as Dr. Krieger from Archer, and once as Dr. Orpheus from the Venture Brothers.

Once. It was horrible. People kept asking to hug me and it was really awkward.

A few times. I've pretty much only ever done "Team Rocket Grunt" and a pretty crappy version of "Big Bro" from Homestuck when my ex was super into it and I was like "sure, why not".

I'd love to do more badass cosplay, but I am horrible at arts and crafts and lack patience to try to make something much more involved.

I'd still be using my Team Rocket Grunt cosplay, except I've mostly given up on conventions. They're expensive, not fun to go to alone, and there's a chance I'll run into my ex at the local one we have which is something I'd rather avoid, personally.

Well next time don't dress as Sr. Hugs-A-Lot.

Although in my experience, having been part of security for a few cons over the years, the real risk is getting randomly glomped by cosplayers. And god help you if there's a Deadpool cosplayer. They're the worst! Its all just a great big joke to them, meaning they're not being an asshole, they're cosplaying as someone who's an asshole.
I remember once some kid stole from a Merch table and his excuse was he didn't steal, Deadpool did.

Yeah, couple of times. It kind of goes with the territory if you're big into design and patternmaking. You see something that you would think would make a killer outfit, and you try to make it.

Fashion and crafts design is like materials science, art and engineering in one. It's good fun.

Not cosplay, per se, but... I used to assist in running a live role-playing group called "LARPquest". It was a medieval fantasy LARP which we would stage at local parks and occasionally camping trips. I was usually a DM, and would play random characters and most of the monsters.

Did that for four years... near the end, I had a team of several other folks and we acted as the monster squad, and we would coordinate our encounters with walkie-talkies and maps. none of the monsters were specific characters from other IPs, but a lot of the players were characters from other role playing games, and we did put in some effort on the masks and costumes- we had goblins, orcs, mind flayers, demons, and some specific NPCs...does that count?

Every day is a cosplay. But no one ever knows who I am. Neither do I. that count? Gotta try harder. Gotta be more fabulous!

Two times. First was back in college, when my friend took me to Otacon. I was Alexander Anderson from Hellsing. I ended up keeping his combed back hairstyle, because all of us agreed that it looked much better than when I had bangs.

The second time, I was Edge from Final Fantasy 4. I wasn't as into it then. I hadn't played the game yet, and was just dressing that way because I was traveling with a group that wanted to all be the cast from FF4.

I used to attend a local anime convention. The first year I went, I just stopped by for a day and didn't cosplay. The next year I decided to go every day and since my hair was somewhat long, I got a blue button up shirt and red tie and went as Kaji from Evangelion. I was pleased that a few people recognized who I was supposed to be, including an Asuka cosplayer who essentially glomped onto my arm out of nowhere.

The next year, then dating (and now married to) an amateur seamstress, I was able to go as Kisuke Urahara from Bleach, making my own geta and painting the stripes on a white hat to complete the outfit. Most people said I was the best Urahara they had seen. A couple of years later I tried going as Vampire Hunter D, which was a mixed success. If I had had the money I would have invested in boots and a good cape, but as it was we tried crafting things ourselves, which looked decent, but not good.

Haven't cosplayed or really attended a (non-boardgaming) con since having kids.
