Statistically, things explode around me more often than they are supposed to in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I haven't been able to figure out why, but I know it's not just me; even my friends have noticed it.

I sure do, isn't that right Team Fortress 2? So, ive been playing for over 170 hours or so, and still no hat drops, nope not a single one( yeah i know hats are not important blah blah) but, what really makes me mad is that, my friend, who has been playing tf2 for only 12 hours, grand total, gets 3 hats, in one week. Also, today, as I was complaining how I get barely any drops what so ever, my friend gets his second hat today.....I gues I just have shitty luck, but I sure as hell feel like the game goes out of its way to annoy me. Do you ever feel like this is happening to you?
same here, over 300 hours put in since they added the damn things and not a single freaking one.

also, the last level of far cry. 4 giant assholes with rocket launchers for arms, 5 or 6 mutant soldiers that jump around and have pinpoint accuracy and you start out with your back to a wall and getting somewhere safer isnt possible until most of them are already dead.

As has been previously stated, every fighting game in existence hates me.
That, and I have a sinking suspicion that my copy of Phantasy Star Online 3 would like to see me dead.

Not ME (or you, if you're playing it) so much as the main character of the game (who you DON'T control), but the entire gameworld is out to kill Mendel in Galapagos.

Of course, that, and you trying to save him (or not, if you feel like being mean), is the entire point.

First game where the AI actually learns and changes how it behaves dynamically. Don't think anyone else has legitimately done that since, actually. During testing, one of the guys forgot to pause his machine when he got up. Came back and his character had died so often it turned neurotic and stopped responding to the world it was in. They checked and the AI code was still processing information and doing stuff. Just the "stuff" it was doing wasn't translating into the environment. Like a real person faced with repeated trauma, it had basically retreated into a dreamland. I still want that game.

Empire: Total War. I'm playing as Prussia. I'm at war with the Austrians. I'm winning. They split their large army into individual units and swarm all over my empire burning down my production buildings, draining my finances and effectively bringing the Prussian Empire to its knees without a single battle.

That actually sounds like an example of amazing AI. I mean, I can imagine human players doing that as a last resort.
I agree, but I think that the AI did its job a little too well, especially since this was on Normal difficulty. It caught me completely off guard.

Hell, MY WHOLE COMPUTER hated me for about a year and a half, until I upgraded to Vista...

Yeah. You read that right.

Fallout 3. I was getting lazy and decided to use the automatic lockpick option (60% chance) on a box. I had to reload the game four times.

This. I swear that BlazBlue Score Attack has a minor case of controller reading and/or takes advantage of computerized reflexes. I've learned how to exploit most of the AI with my two best characters until I reach the Unlimited characters at the end, but it's still hard as crap for some matchups. The rest of the game is painfully easy.

Yes. in Continuum Shift, Jin's AI has a nasty habit of throw spamming you. It doesn't help that his throw freezes you for a few moments. What sucks is the fact that I'm horrible at breaking throws. The only time I ever break throws is when they grab me while I'm trying to grab them.
Ditto. Score Attack Jin sucks too. At long range, it's projectile spam. At close range, it's throw and invincible attack spam. I can beat him at long range (Lambda ftw) and Tager crushes projectiles with Spark Bolt and Sledge Hammer, but Ragna has no choice but to get close and keeps getting swatted away every time.

Earlier I was wearing a cape and had a flower in reserve. I forgot that you can't defeat fish with a cape, so I lost that. Then hit another fish avoiding that fish, losing my flower. Then hit another fish getting away from the first two fish.

What have you got against me, Super Mario World?

Grand Theft Auto III, during a mission where you had to kill somebody in witness protection.
Everything that could've gone wrong did, like accidentally having a grenade bounce back at me, or having Columbian Cartel attack me while I chased him down.
Even once I had a car skeleton crush me.
It was just ridiculous.

Your friend is a freak of nature. Hat drops are incredibly rare, while weapon drops are rather common.

I've yet to get any hat drops other than the seasonal or event hats (Ghastly Gibbus can be obtained by killing someone wearing it, Cheater's Lament is from not hacking, Alien Swarm parasite is from beating a coop mission of Alien Swarm, and the Sam and Max hat is from preordering Sam and Max).

My only "hat" drop was the Surgical Mask, which I love.

Yep. For me fighting AI Hakumen is a *****, he always seems to be able to counter everything just as I throw it out.

Also, fighting Nu in Calamity Trigger is just rage.

Apparently, World of Warcraft just has it out for everybody. The best you can expect is for the game to play fair; any time you accomplish something great, it's either something shared by everyone (downing a particular raid boss, for example) or something gotten by chance (winning a roll on phat lewts).
However, the game has the capacity and the eagerness to kick you RIGHT where it hurts. This can come in many forms, ranging from, say, a string of lost rolls (two-four are fine, beyond that, check your dice) to the entire server crapping out when your guild run has Lich King down to 20%, and all the varying degrees of maddening between.

And how can we forget pvp? EVERY class is cheap and unbalanced except the one you happen to be playing at the moment. Warlocks have about 20 fears, paladins and their stupid bubbles, rogues stun-lock, and so on. Of course I'm exaggerating; I can do some real damage when I'm at my best, but DAYUM, sometimes it's just outright unfair!
