Rarely... If its a movie I really want to see, and my friends don't want to see it... Then I'll go...

The only time I went by myself was when they screened the extended LOTR trilogy. I was the only person there, sitting in a dark room for 12 hours. Good times.

I never go alone though that's probably because I don't like going to the movies often. Also, I actually would be afraid of being in a movie theater by myself.

I never get lonely watching films on my own. I mean, it's nice seeing films with friends, and I regularly go with my younger brother to see films (more choice after he turns 18 in two months, too :D) using Orange Wednesdays. However, when at university, I regularly try and see films alone, and ideally I catch the latest showings as well (i.e. after 10pm) because that way there's almost nop-one around. Two main reasons for this:

1. Seeing films late at night means that with barely anyone there, no-one's talking and distracting you from the movie. Usually when I see films where there are plenty of people in the cinema, there are plenty of people whispering and talking, and personally I see people who talk in films as the same kind as those who talk in the theatre:

"...special level of hell, reserved for child molesters, and people who talk in the theatre..."
(cookie for quote)

2. Seeing films with barely anyone around ramps up the tension. This applies to the trailers as well. I saw The Expendables last night, and though there were quite a few people around, since the showing was at 11:10pm the cinema was still mostly pretty empty. There were two trailers that I loved, one was for Resident Evil: AFterlife (so looking forward to that movie :D), and the other was for a new horror called The Last Exorcism. If I'd seen the trailer in a packed cinema then it wouldn't have been as good, but there were only a few other people around and none sitting near me. I was all but alone, and the trailer scared the hell out of me (looks like an awesome film though, much better than, say, Paranormal Activity).

My point is, though seeing films with friends is good sometimes, I prefer seeing films on my own. It's so much better for ramping up the atmosphere and being really immersive, and really getting you into the feel of the film :D.

Every Friday night.

Sometimes a few times a week.

I don't have any friends, so I just do everything normal people would...just alone.

I go out to eat, go to movies, go walking just not with anyone.

Yeah, I go to movies alone all the time. Mostly because half my friends live on the other side of the neighborhood, and the other half are.....better off than most and go to long-ass trips all summer.

Shepherd Book, I think that from Firefly and not Serenity, need to check that.

I go during the middle of the day during school time or early, then it's empty. I also normally go with my sister. I saw St Trinian's 2 with her and Wild Target.
I went to see Inception with a school buddy though as neither of us had seen it yet.

Exactly the same for me. But I'm probably going to do it more often now. It took me a while to do it, but after that first time it's a lot easier. Now where have I heard that before...

Dude, it's kool. Nothing more enjoyable than peace and quiet and a nice movie. (and no one to hog your Reese's Pieces too XD)

Yep, it's fine, maybe a little weird before it starts and after if you usually talk about it.
During - if it's a good movie you don't notice, if it's a bad movie you're thinking 'so glad I didn't subject someone else to this'.

I saw "Dude, where's my Car?" in the Cinema alone.

Occasionally yes.
There's nothing wrong in doing so, when I do its usually because none of my friends want to see the movie, or I just want to see the movie by myself.
