Ever had a complete music style conversion?

Well I used to hate all music with screaming in it, all hip hop and all dance music. So basicaly my taste in music has completely reversed.

I used to be a rap worshipper, now I am the anti rapper.

I used to listen to alternative and rap, but now all I listen to is Classic Rock; things like The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Scorpions, Doors and The Who. However I do like to mix it up a little with Bob Dylan.

I've always listened to more or less the same stuff I listen to know. I prefer rock and Jazz , but I'm a pretty curious person when it comes to music so I'm always trying new stuff (the wierder, the better). What has happened is that unconciously I have moved away from certain bands that I used to like (Rush, Led Zeppelin, Megadeth, Pearl Jam, Tool, etc.) not because I think they suck or anything, it's just that I can't bear with their sound anymore, they just don't appeal to me (and actually Geddy Lee and Robert plant just annoy the hell out of me). Hip Hop is a bit different though because I just don't like the way it sounds nowadays; before it used to be very beat and sample oriented, today's beats are very dull and it's more about boosting the MC's ego than to actually sound cool and tight. What I have been getting into in the past 2 years are oldies like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Alfred Lewis, Etta James, Duke Ellington, Robert Johnson, Big Joe Williams, etc. My dad used to love all that and now I'm starting to understand why (It was a joy for me to hear Galaxy News Radio in Fallout 3 for the first time).

I used to listen to Hipidy Hop. But a year or so back I heard a Metallica song (Puppets I think) and it just completely changed my taste in music. I began to listen to loads of thrash metal and began to branch out to the many, many other types of metal, before deciding thrash is the best.

When i was younger i used to listen to mainstream Rap and rock Now i predominantly listen to Rap RnB Hip-Hop and Grime.

When I was a teenager I was really into the metal scene,Maiden,Metallica etc..

Then I got hooked on a band called "the levellers" Folk rock,whom a lot of their material was a lot more sedate than there popular stuff.

That said, now I enjoy nearly all types of music.

I went from liking pop and rap in 5th grade to being a devoted metalhead ever since. I've loved every minute of it. convert to the brethren of real music people.

My idea of "real music" is not screaming and repeatedly whacking a guitar.

I recently got into Nu Folk. I know, sweeeet.

Not talking about screamo or hardcore. I'm talking like thrash and Death Metal. Black Sabbath, Cream and the founders of metal dude. You think that's not real music?
