Today actually.

After being born in a hospital, there hadn't been a need for 32 years. Now about a month ago I was referred by my general practitioner to go to the hospital.

Turns out I have Hodgkin's lymphoma [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hodgkin%27s_lymphoma] and I got my second course of chemotherapy today.
Wow, sucks. Good luck with that mate.

O.T. Yeah on 3 separate occasions: When I broke my pinky in the kindergarten, when i fell on a table head first and cut my head and 3 years ago when I broke my left arm (That sucked big time, gaming was... awkward.)

I had my tonsils taken out when I was about 5, and when I was -really- young (like weeks old) I had this thing where my stomach was rejecting everything put into it and I had to get a bit of skin cut out of it.

Beyond that, nope.

I cut off a finger once. And I've woken up at the hospital due to alchohol intoxication...

Yeah.. No interesting stories sadly.

I was only ever in hospital once. When I was a baby I had problems breathing or something. Evidently what was wrong was fixed.

Lets just say, drink lots of water kids, kidney stones are not fun. Morphine doesn't work. Women have told me that a kidney stone is more painful that labour, I don't quite believe that but it is the worst pain I have ever experienced.

I've also been in a bad car accident that tore a hole in the back of my left hand, I had a parade of med students come through the ER to see my exposed tendons work, while I waited for a surgeon to become available.

Various skating accidents that gave me stitches also saw me in the ER. I'm a terrible skateboarder.

Most recently I fell halfway through my veranda roof and smashed my face on a crossbeam. I had a five hour wait in the ER to get some stitches in the bridge of my nose and have my vision checked. Apparently I should have been a priority in triage because I had an eye injury but they lost my paperwork.

I've been numerous times, but never spent more than a night. Once for an allergic reaction to something that was making me swell up. Once for an adenoidectomy. A few times for stomach viruses that left me severely dehydrated. And most recently for a horrific bout of colitis (blood coming out of your ass is scary), went back to the hospital 3 times with that, because even percocet wasn't stopping me from screaming in pain.

I've had 3 kidney stones; I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. Well...maybe Jack Thompson.

Anyway, horrible stabbing searing burning incapacitating pain, bile puking, all that fun stuff...and then comes the morphine. After filling out an hour of paperwork, of course.

Some idiot dropped a bench on my foot while I wore no shoes. Blood under toe nails, in the hospital they were stinging through my nails constantly to reduce the pressure of the blood underneath.
Still lost my toe nails.

Once for surgury to remove a pilonidal cyst.

The doctor wanted to keep me overnight, but I told him, and I quote, "The hell I will, I have a date tonight".

I went to hospital because of testicular torsion (If you don't know what that is, it can be summed up with 'fun times'). At first it was to untwist them, the second time it was surgery to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I went when I was young because of apendicitis and apparently I didn't have any anesthesia because the time it would take to take effect my apendicitis would have killed me. I don't remember it but I remember being in the hospital after the surgery.

When I was five I fell off a wall and split my head open. We took the bus to the hospital! The cut was full of glass and dirt and stuff, had to get cleaned out, all while I was awake. Then twelve stitches. Lovely scar for all my trauma, hair won't ever grow there again.

Worst time though was my appendix. I had been feeling sick for a couple of days, then the last day I got the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life. My appendix must have burst at that point, or at least begun to tear. I was bent over double and could barely walk down the stairs.

Went to the hospital and they put me down for exploratory surgery, not knowing what it was at the time. My half hour surgery ended up taking 4 hours, as I had the most infected appendix they had ever seen and it took 6 gallons of cleansing fluid to clear out all the poison. Stayed in hospital for about a week, don't know how anybody lasts any longer than that.
