I absolutely love RPGs, but damn I've got to agree with you on this. There are some games that just make me freak sometimes. I remember when I bought Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. I got that special collector's version with the holographic box. I was so happy cause the tv commercials really convinced me it was good. I put about 25 hours into it, until I realized it was lame and tedious with a storyline that wasn't going anywhere. DAMN YOU SQUARE-ENIX!

Oblivion. Mostly because I had messed up the custom class I chose, and I realized that 60 hours in when everything started raping me due to my low blade level.

I became bored with Assassin's Creed 2. I just kept playing so I could send it back to Gamefly. Usually after two to three hours I get bored with generic games. For example Brutal Legend Bayonetta and The Wheelman. They were just so average I couldn't take it anymore

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, I have yet to finish it

Also, by extension, Dark Void
Uncharted 2:Among Thieves is in my mind, Too. So we are in a similar boat.
I just find it boring, yes, it has great views and set pieces. But it just feels like "meh" to me.
And trust me, Dark void was so short, by the time i lost interest, it was over.

I bore incredibly fast, I'm notorious for not finishing games, even if I really enjoyed them. I might pick up where I left off in a year or so.

Final Fantasy mostly. I've only played 4, 5, 6 and 7, and the only one I ever finished was 6.

Zelda (all but two of them), Neverwinter Nights (didn't really get bored, just a bunch of other games came out when I eventually bought it and I wanted to play those), Fire Emblem Rekka no Ken (I did eventually go back and play to the end... only to have Eliwood be totally useless against the final boss).

final fantasy 3 for the DS. played around 40 hours, and eventually gave up after what was, literally, final boss fight no. 6!

In recently lost interest in the main story of Prototype.

Don't get me wrong, I love the sandbox elements of it, but the plot just stopped growing on me.

For complete loss of interest, it would be fallout 3, mostly because I played it at my friends house for 2 weeks before I even bought it.

Fallout 3. I don't understand why that game is so beloved on these forums and elsewhere. It's 30 hours of wandering around a grey wasteland and doing repetitive dungeons. The gunplay is mediocre at best and the story is only slightly above average. I dunno, maybe games that are that open just aren't for me. I'm not a big "side-quest" kind of a guy in RPGs.

This is something I suffer from quite a bit, and it's a problem I have.

Have you ever just lost interest when the game is really long game?

You're not stuck and you aren't lost in it; you're doing just fine, but you start to feel bored with it. That kind of a thing.

I do this all the time, and I'm just wondering if some of you guys to do.
Usually, if a game is more than 40 or 50 hours, I begin to lose interest unless it's really addicting to me. This is part of why I've never been able to finish a Final Fantasy, I think.

I think I just get tired of seeing the same characters for so long (unless I get really attached to them and really like them), and I get tired of the same plot (because when a game is THAT long, it's a little hard to keep it engaging the entire time), and it also gets boring when the gameplay is the same thing (99% of the time it is) every single battle.

Does anyone else suffer from this unexplainable "long game" issue?
This is why I personally prefer shorter games, averaging 20-30 hours or so. When I hear a game has upwards of 60-80 hours or gameplay or more (many Final Fantasies, Persona 3, etc.), then I know I most likely will never see the ending for myself, even if I do take an interest and liking to the game.
I have something of a quandry here, because by nature I'm an "explorer" type gamer who likes to just walk about a huge landscape discovering every last secret, preferably without the aid of Gamefaqs. On the other hand, long repetitive games (the best example I can think of is F.E.A.R, which is easily the worst big-budget game I've played in the last couple of years) tend to bore me senseless. I must have taken six months or more of stops and starts to finally finish F.E.A.R, and I can't say it was worth it. (Well, I could, but I'd be lying my a-s off.)

Final Fantasy XIII, I'm sorry to say. I was really into it at first and I love the game, but I just dropped out half way through. I'm sure I'll get back to it soon.
