So I work at Cabela's as a cashier in PA. On the way to start my shift I passed a 2 little people, two big bodyguard like people, and a pit bull. I walk by like it was a normal day when I noticed one of them was wearing a fedora, this caused me to spin around and low and behold......the cast of Pitt Boss. Later on I checked out one of there bodyguards at my register. We get celebrities all the time in our store, but I defiantly was not expecting Shorty Ross, His dog Hercules, Ronald Lee Clark, Daniel Zirilli, and some random bloke. So tell me, ever meet a celebrity by surprise?

I was looking for Houston St. in NYC and I casually asked the first bloke I came across. He turned around and he happened to be Nick Frost :) He was amused I was so happy to meet him, agreed to have our picture taken and pointed me on my way. VERY nice guy in hindsight, he needn't have put up with me the way he did.

I ran into Gene Simmons once (like...literally ran into him). However, I had no clue it was him until after the fact so I don't know if it counts.

I was at the New York City Halloween Parade in 2006 and evidently a few members of KISS are huge supporters of it. Walking to the parade site, I bump into a man in KISS make-up and it looked pretty damn good. We part ways and he heads over to a camera to prepare for the show he was about to do.

"Well that's weird but I guess they're interviewing people going to the parade" thinks a young and not-yet-bitter Tippy2K2. A few hours later I find out that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have a float as KISS rolls by doing a concert and I realize that I ran into the actual Gene Simmons, not some guy in a costume.

When I was a wee laddy boy my mum brought me and my brother out to a beach and we were sitting a few feet away from Will Self and his kids. I should probably read one of his books sometime.

Also there's this guy called Pat on this show "Egghead" over here in UK or Ireland or something. Also won Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. My dad was good friends with him for a while and used to do some work with him.

Not really. I saw John Carmack at an Indian restaurant at lunch one day. I worked at id at the time, so that wasn't a huge surprise.

I spoke to Jody Scheckter once when I was young.
Of course, I didn't realise who it was as I was more interested in pretending to drive a box car. Plus I didn't bone up on my F1 knowledge til much later.

Got his signature though.
And one from Jackie Stewart.

I found myself right behind George HW Bush at a buffet line one time. Was wondering why so many of the people in line were wearing dark suits and shades...

No, but my parents met Johnny Depp on the set of Pirates 4 and had dinner with him without telling me. When they came home all they brought me a PotC T-Shirt.

I live in Modesto, Ca which is near this place called Knight's Ferry. A friend and I drove there for a show Third Seven was playing. After the show we start talking to random people. There was this woman looking for people to come back to her boyfriend's house to hang out. When we get to his house, we start talking and he doesn't talk about himself much.
"What do you do for a living?" I ask him.
"I'm a professional musician." he responds. Any one who knows anything about the music industry knows this is an unusual answer.
One of the performers at the show chimed in "Hey, I knew I recognized you from somewhere, you are in Depswa. I saw them at the FatCat."

So yeah, I met the guitarist and lead singer from Depswa; Jeremy Penick.

I met Margaret Weis half by surprise. She was in town for DragonCon, and a friend of mine knew her quite well and offered to introduce me since she knew I was a big DragonLance fan. To get to where I was meeting up with her, I had to walk a few blocks along the street in Atlanta. The thing with DragonCon, for those who have never been, is that we basically pack the population of a normal city into about five square blocks, so you are never walking alone. Also, con people are super nice, so I we tend to talk to each other along the way. So since I was standing at a crosswalk waiting for my turn, I struck up a conversation with the lady waiting with me. For two blocks, we talked as casually as you'd expect any two strangers to talk, primarily about the convention. And when we got to the building, we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. About ten minutes later, I found my friend and she guided me across the room to introduce me. To the woman I'd just walked with and talked to for the last two blocks.

This was good for me, because I get very nervous around people I'm a fan of. I met Raven (the wrestler) once, and literally just stood there with a rather panicked blank face the entire time he was there. He tried to smile and be welcoming, but that just panicked me more (partially because he never smiles in character, so it was off-putting). I don't think I ever managed to actually say anything to him. :(

Ran into Cheri Oteri in a hotel in DC about a decade ago. That was pretty random.

If you go to any cons you are bound to run into all kinds of celebrities around town. I swear, between 2 Dragon-cons and a Comic-con I have run into Doc Hammer and Jackson Public over 6 times on the street and outside restaurants.

My grandma was going to Arizona for a few months, so we helped her get through the hectic nature of the airport and met Richard Simmons. He was just hanging around and sang and danced for my grandma with her favorite song and then kissed her on the cheek before giving her directions to her gate.

This Christmas I went to see Elf: The Musical and some of the guys from One Direction were there too. I met one of them in the bathroom, but I didn't know who it was, though I remember when I saw him in the bathroom I thought, "Huh, this guy looks like one of those One Direction dudes".

Finally, I dunno if this counts since I was there for the band, but the lead singer of Lucero was hanging around the merchbooth. I got a picture with him, but the picture sucked, so I have to go to another one to get a better one.

The closest things I've come to are online comments.

Jhonen Vasquez liked my TJHM drawing. I was doing exercises drawing in other artists' styles.

Lord British thanked me for writing a nice review & promoting Ultimate Collector, while Zynga, the publisher, wasn't promoting or advertising the game in any way.

My grandmother was luckier; she used to work at a restaurant where Jimmy Durante ate regularly.

I managed to be at West Edmonton Mall when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie walked on by. That was surreal.

Also, I lived next door to a budding pop star who didn't quite take the charts by force, but it was kind of cool anyways. (Ever heard of Kreesha Turner?)
