I have played a couple like that. Metroid Prime Trilogy, Shadow of the Colossus and Final Fantasy X. But by far none of them have the same effect as the Metal Gear Solid games.

Something about those games I just love. I wish I stil had Subsidence of 2. But Metal Gear Solid are definatly games if they went on forever I'd play lol. I would also like to state a lie I made too. On all favorite games ever, I never thought once to put Metal Gear Solid on there :p.

How about you fellow escapist's. Any games if they never had an ending would you play?

I was kinda depressed at the end of Chrono Trigger, not because it was sad, but because it was just...over. I love that game so much.

All the time. I'm always playing games that I never really want to end. If you want the game to hurry up and be over, I think there is a problem in the game. It must not be fun for you.

That's not to say I don't want to find out what happens or resolve the conflict, but I do want to keep playing. So in those situations, I'll just start a new game from the beginning. Love him or hate him Jim from the Jimquistion got that much right about replayability. If the game is good and fun, you'll just play it again.

Usually when I know I'm close to the end, I'll put it away. I do this for every media though, except films. I have a hard time playing through a game again, knowing what to expect.

Guitar Hero. That is the game that got me into great music instead of the shit pop we have today. I always replayed the songs over and over again, wanting to become a Rock legend like Joe Satriani or Eric Johnson.

Pretty much every game I have played somehow falls into this category. The most recent ones are:

Mass Effect 2. This is my Two Towers video game. I probably won't wanna go into Mass Effect 3 being afraid that this awesome universe will end. It got everything right and that's rare.

Super Metroid. I really loved that game and I have only played through it once. Because I wanted more. I wanted it to be bigger and it already was huge. And then I came across Symphony Of The Night which will arrive at my doorstep any day now. Hope I am not gonna have the same complaint.

The Transformers 2004 video game. This one here fits the niche perfectly. A sequel was on the way and 8 months in, Atari pulled the plug. Talk about not knowing what you have in your hands.

Wipeout HD Fury. I recently got YLODed and my data is gone. I am hesitant starting over because I know where the game ends. I hate that empty feeling in the end.

Burnout 3 Takedown. Only 170 medals? And only 3 continents? What about Africa and Australia?

Shatter. This is it? THIS IS IT?

Soul Reaver 2. Shorter on gameplay and bigger on story than the last one. Why can't Eidos get it right? They better pull it off with the next one.

KOTOR 1; I'd played KOTOR 2 for ages before on account with being unimpressed with the prologue on my friends Xbox; when I finally got the PC version I was like, oh its finished, what a pity... and only in 27 hours...

Half Life 2 - Episode 2

Every time I get to the end and the screen fades to black with Alyx's voiceover, I want it to go on for ever... and ever... and ever.

Dragon Age: Orgins.

I wouldn't have minded if the game was three times longer if it kept the same quality of story throughout.

I would have enjoyed playing an epilogue for just about every party member.

Mass Effect 2 for me, but in a few months Mass Effect 3. That whole universe is so awesome, I could explore it forever.

No. Never. I love a great game. I love it even better if it's long (40 - 60 hours is optimal for me). But I also love a game with a great ending. If done right, the ending is the best part of the game, wrapping up perfectly with loads of excitement and peril along the way. So no matter how much I love a game, I am always looking forward to the final stages. Games without endings always piss me off for that reason.

So, no. I have never wanted a game to go on forever. After it's wrapped up, I'll pray for a sequel, or play it again.

Strangely, Brutal Legend. I played it recently, and when I saw the end coming up all I could think was "Aww, really?". It was right when the story was starting to get interesting, too. BL is a game that could have benefited IMMENSELY from being about 1.5 to 2 times as long as it is.
