For starters, am I the only one who thought of the Spice from Dune when reading the title? Yes? Okay then. Anyway, No, never have, never even heard of it.
Seriously, there's a Dune joke every other post.

Okay, you have synthetic cannabis, which simulates the real thing and is addictive. Then you have actual cannabis, which has the real effects, better, and is not addictive at all. And people decide they want to try the slightly worse off, addictive, one instead of the real thing? Now that, my friends, is what you call idiocy.

As you can probably guess from that, no, I haven't tried 'Spice', and I won't. I may try weed in the future, the proper stuff, but not 'spice'. Unlike some people, I'm not an idiot...

[small]And before people start saying I'm an idiot for wanting to try weed in the first place, note that I do know my drug facts, will never try any 'hard' drugs, and weed is not addictive and is nowhere near as bad for you as tobacco, or even alcohol for that matter. And I don't smoke, though I do drink. So yeah...[/small]
The main reason people smoke the synthetic stuff is because it is legal and easier to get a hold of. Assuming you don't know a dealer. You can walk into any smoke shop and buy the synthetic stuff. Hell, there's a shop where I live use to hang ads for it outside their shop.

You'll feel a hell of a lot better the morning after a smoke than you do after a session on the beers!

Your open-mindedness is a breath of fresh air on this forum.
Actually, I am fairly open minded. My philosophy is that people can do whatever the hell they want to themselves. Whether I like it or not, that just decides whether or not I'll do that thing. So although I don't like smoking, that just means I won't do it myself, though I have friends who smoke and I don't hold that against them, they're perfectly free to do so, provided they're courteous about it and don't smoke in my face or anything. Fortunately my smoker friends are okay about it, they usually ask when at my home if they can smoke and go outside to do so, and we have ashtrays at home for smokers even though my parents quit years ago...

The point I was trying to make before was simply that I person ally don't smoke, but I do drink, and I'm happy like that. And I'd be perfectly willing to try weed, and the main point there was that I know the facts of various drugs and weed isn't actually bad for you. Hell, I'm all for it being legalised, purely because it's safer than smoking and drinking, the government would make billions in tax money from it, and there are all sorts of other uses and benefits of the plant itself (clothing and fabric made of hemp, for example... :p). Sorry if I wasn't very clear in my original post, and hopefully this clears things up a bit :).

Well your opinion is certainly a shitload better than the usually evangelically-anti brigade that appear in threads like this.

I'm with youe on the legalisation issue. It's not just a matter of danger (or lack of compared to legal drugs), but the money raised would be phenominal. Considering cannabis has possibly 1 confirmed fatality, it's profit all the way for the various governments that decide, if ever, to go down that route.

Addictive? I smoked Spice regularly back in the day (they criminalized the constituent drugs, JWH-018 and JWH-073 a few years ago in Britain) and it was great fun, and about addictive as cannabis (so as addictive as sex, chocolate, lying and politics). They did report one case of dependence, but that was it.

I don't know if what you have in the US is the same stuff as we had here, but it was solid fun. Roll up a 50/50 mix of spice and weed and it was a lovely, dream-like high.

That said, it was still an (at the time) unknown synthetic drug sprayed on random herbs claiming to be a natural mix, and not as good by itself and weed. No need to illegalize it though really, but then again I would say that. I'm one of those crazy people that support cognitive freedom.

Aw, I thought this was a topic about a different spice. Also drugs are bad m'kay.
That is win, by the way.

Also, I was wondering if it was some Star Wars thing. Even if we ever do get around to making Marijuana legal in the States, I still won't smoke it.

From the Wikipedia article linked in the OP:
Professor John W. Huffman who first synthesised many of the cannabinoids used in synthetic cannabis is quoted as saying, "People who use it are idiots."[23] "You don't know what it's going to do to you."[25] One study reported a single patient exhibiting withdrawal symptoms and another, psychosis.
I think I'll pass, especially since I've tried weed a few times and found it pretty overrated, so I'm definitely not going to bother with something that's apparently "not as good".
