Every war film I have ever watched, along with Call of Duty 4 has made me want to run to Canada if they reinstate the draft.

I've dreamed of being a fighter pilot after watching movies like Top Gun and that old one about the Flying Tigers with John Wayne.

What has moved me to join the military the most, would probably the stories my grandfather used to tell me when he served as a Navy diver in the Pacific during WWII. I'd never actually join the military (unless my country were in great immediate danger) but those are the things that made me long for the military life.

Well, I can't say any war movies have made me want to join any armed forces anytime, as it seems that people who are focused on (Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down) AND not focused on (Starship Troopers, Alien) have an alarming tendency to die brutally.

Which is not to say I won't join (family history), it's just no movie has compelled me to join up.

I'm not one to be patriotic for its own sake, but I would ONLY ever join the Canadian military.

Those little commercials for the Canadian armed forces showing them helping people off boats, escorting refugees out of combat zones, feeding the chillins. It really makes you believe in the whole noble warrior thing.

As for a specific movie, probably Shake Hands With The Devil.
Ya, we failed to stop the genocide. But we fucking tried. And that's something worthwhile that I'd be willing to die for.

In two words: Fuck no.

The military life isn't for me. I don't like taking orders or being manipulated around.

Not all armies are alike, and mine happens to suck ass bigtime. It's rather pathetic, really.

In cases of extreme distress the mexican army would just give up, then we'd have to go guerrilla all the way.

Oh, we do. There's a date we all remember: 2 of october, 1968. The army literally bottled up a bunch of students in a plaza during a march and fucking shot them(look at the dead tally). Look it up on the net and see what I'm talking about. Great army we have we, like, shows dem students not to mess with the man!

Unless the guy being stabbed has a really unhealthy fetish. Yes I suppose.
Though I feel my original point of "war is bad" might have been lost now.

Saving Private Ryan, just cause I'm the Umpum of my group, and I wanna be Umpum in the Army.
Y'kmow, be useless til the end of the movie, fire one shot, kill an enemy who I befriended, and save the day, and most of all, NOT DIE.

Sergeant York. A black and white movie that makes rounding up five trenches of "Nein!" screaming WWI German soldiers by yourself look easy! That movie was pretty kickass, for TCM standards.
