Pro Evolution Soccer, never been able to enjoy it despite everyone and their dog owning the entire series.

Counter Strike, running around or standing still for a few seconds then dying at the first sign of a few enimies. Then sitting twiddling your thumbs waiting for the round to end.

Guitar Hero. Perhaps because it is not my thing with the repetative playing, even if most if not all games are repetative , or because it reminds me too much of DDR just with using your hands this time, but its just not fun for me. Although I gotta say i love seeing people act like tools and doing the whole head banging and body movements as if they really were on stage, really quite funny.

Final Fantasy games other than the first and third (haven't played the second, I think. Installment numbers got fucked up around this point, right?) The first was kick-ass, the third started the whole "this character is this class" but you could change stuff up, now they're all "this character is this class and does this, watch it and press buttons."

Halo. Everyone's already said it, blah blah blah. This game was average. Everyone liked it. Those two only add up to terrible when put together. If an average game is liked by nigh everyone, publishers want their very own Halo, and developers who want to do something different or revolutionary have a harder time finding publishers. Developers trying to make an average game on par with Halo go up, while developers trying to make something new go down. Halo stunted the diversity of games, and I don't like it.

Morrowind. Seriously, this game would have been great if it were more fast-paced. If a speed skill of 60 wasn't required to get anywhere within a month or move faster than rock, I would probably be able to play this game. One of the very, very few games I've ever seen with one flaw that just broke the game for me.

All the Halo games. It's a basic shooter with added hype.
All the MGS games. It's not 'stealth' it's waiting instead of enjoying the game.
Most of the Zelda stuff I didnt hate, but didnt grab me.

Most 'realistic' shooters, Painkiller I loved, TF2 I love, but I dont want to be dealing with a dumb squad that cant hit anyone if I leave em to it, and if I die I want to respawn in 10 seconds, not restart the whole mission.

Almost all sports games.

Wrestling games, now what's going on, I remember two WWF games I liked, both arcade conversions, but everything PS1 and beyond has just been awful, seems they spend 2 years making the 'create a character' and 2 hours writing the game engine. Whereas the old digitised one where you could pluck a tombstone out of nowhere and batter people, then fire bats at people with Undertaker, that was pure stupid fun.

To be honest, I'm sick of hearing how bad the Halo series is. I thought the first one was brilliant, and the only reason the majority of people put it down is that they didn't have an Xbox at the time. It was the first example in a long while of something killer which wasnt on Playstation. And to be honest, people I know have later admitted this

Either that, or its to conform to the non conformist ideal; to put down whats popular. And Halo is bloody popular, so it gets tonnes of hate.

Please bear in mind that this is the majority of people. If you have a valid reason for not liking it (which most people out there don't) then I'm not including you in this.

The game I dislike most which is overhyped has to be Killzone. Bland as Bulgarian buggery in my opinion

Half-Life 2. I don't really get what the big deal is, all I saw was a really boring FPS with puzzles that made my head pulsate with pain, and what's the big deal about the gravity gun? all it does is pick stuff up and toss it at people...I found it good for puzzles but otherwise cliched and useless.

P.S. I loved Half Life 2: Ep 2 though...that game was amazing!

Classic PC RPGs. Just cannot get into them. I Like D&D, like the settings, but they plod, are too complex for their own good, and I ALWAYS have the nagging feeling I'm doing something wrong. Like Valkyrie Profile, too. Hate using guides and that was necessary for that game to get the real ending :(

Realistic Shooters. CoD4 is the closest I get, and I dont call respawning every 4 seconds realistic XD

Halo
Terrible AI in Vihcles, lots of repetitive enemies, and levels that take way too long.

Half Life
Closed spaces, samey color scheme everywhere, no toggle crouch, gets lost often, have to re-trace paths sometimes.

Counter-Strike
Dated combat mechanics, doesn't feel real, hackers / cocks occasionally.

Bio-shock
Expectant storyline throws no surprises, becomes superman nears end, hacking is tedious and grinding.

Battlefield series
No point having single player option 'cos AI is too stupid, guns miss when they've actually hit, too few ppl on a map to feel like a battle.

Command Conquer series
Mass of units owns everything else, it's more about who can click their mouse faster than any strategy.

Final Fantasy series
Agree with Yahzee, all JRPG have same character design.

Just about every other major game out there
All copy of each other, no originality in style, game mechanics, or storyline.

Yes, I'm a Yahzee fanboy.

We all have our tastes and I would like to think the Escapist as one of the last bastions of hope of civil game conversations, so please don't take me out of line when I ask, out of curiosity, what games do you like/play?

Again, your choice in what you like is fine, it just happens I really enjoy 6/7 series you just listed.
