Evidence that would make you worship

Anything that was relatively proven scientifically. Basically something substantial and not just coincidence would probably sway me.

But even that would not be enough to make me worship that deity.

I fact, as with evidence regarding the existance of gods, even with such a god existing (assuming he isn't omniscient) I doubt there would be anything that would make me worship him of my own free will.
May I ask why you wouldn't worship said God. Assuming this religion works like Christianity and there is some kind of reward for your devotion, why wouldn't you?

A) I would need it to actually come to me and prove it exists, as I do not like to take other's words as fact on spiritual matters.

B)I would never worship a God, worship is a human device created for our own purposes, it makes the divine into the mundane. If this God had created the world, I would do what anyone does with someone's creation and enjoy it as I do now. If I had spent time creating something special for people to share I would much prefer to see people using it and enjoying it, rather than spending time praising me for it, and if we are made in God's image then I would assume that this is His outlook on creation too. As such, enjoy the world, and that is thanks and praise in itself.

god himself would have to appear before me, change his views on homosexuals and buy the first round, and even then i probably wouldn't worship him, maybe call him up the next friday and get a beer and some food.

Hm, that's a tough one.
I don't think I could ever worship something from the depth of my heart.
However, I'd probably follow its rules and behave accordingly (so if certain rituals are mandatory, I'd do them) but I doubt I would mean it.
I follow the laws of society as well, even though I don't agree with all of them. I guess my worship'd be similar to that behaviour.

As for your actual questions, I don't know.
I'd probably react like avykins at first and assume I'm insane and check myself into an asylum.
Once through therapy (when I finally accept the truth) I'll start over and behave as said above.

I'm not really the guy who'd worship anything.

But i guess i would be open to omnipotent bribery. Maybe the one true god(s) could start something with that if he/they want(s) me to worship him/them

Seeing how Christianity is the largest religion, I'm assuming that version of God is the one I would supposedly believe in. Though, I'm an atheist (or agnostic is probably closer to the truth of my view) and don't -want- to believe there is a "God". Also, even if it was proven, without a flaw, that he (as Carlin in his wisdom once said, if there is a God, he must be a man, no woman would ever fuck things up like this!) exists... I would care the slightest. It's not like it would change anything, my life would stay the same. Of course that would mean I'd go to Hell, but that's where all the interesting people would be, anyway!

"You go to Heaven for the climate, and to Hell for the company."

You would really deny God's existence if for example, every single person on earth heard, in their primary language, "I am your God". It would take an incredibly stupid conspiracy theory to explain that one.

I would believe in this god when he appears before me for some chitchat while proving his powers without the use of photoshop.

I would worship that god once in a while when he grants me the super powers I desire.

Two ways I'd start believing:

If he came down and pimp-handed me right now.

If he came down and gave me some chocolate custard.

This, and he needs to make me immortal already!

I would want to see him face to face, slap him for all the cruel irony, and then let him explain why he deserves to be worshipped.

Said god would have to come down and speak/interact with me. Provide proof of his/her/its abilities and then give me a reason to worship them. IE: It would have to give me some divine ability or another in order for me to be willing to devote myself. Otherwise I just plain don't care.

This. Existence isn't always a reason for worship.

To expand upon that for myself, proof would mainly have to consist of a highly testable or observable god. For example, a god theorem. Or, him simply showing up and busting a few miracles.

One could argue that he has already done this, but it's anecdotal evidence ~ something you can't prove. If you accept anecdotal evidence as proof of his existence then you could easily ask the question "Is he worth worshiping if all he can muster is some anecdotal evidence?" Even further, perhaps the entity that caused said miracles isn't even a god. It could be an alien, a time traveler, or any number of other things that are just as high on the probability list.

So, to summarize, a god theorem or something observable.

well im not sure i would ever belive that the "god" was ever a real omnipotent god with the whole heven and hell thing, and even if that was proven i would never worship it as why should you worship something just because its more powerful than you and if it demands worship then thats just proof that its not an all powerful god

Religion requires belief. The wanting of physical proof in God is therefor a bit of a paradox.

I'm Christian and God has revealed himself to me through small things like answered prayers, comfort. God wants his followers to love Him and follow him through faith and trust, rather than an all powerful dictator. That's not why God created us.

Lets face it, even if God did tell you he existed, would you stop being who you are? Would you change your ways? You would probably complain to him, whining that he never gave you x, instead of y.

You would not worship Him. God knows your heart and everything you ever think/will think. Worshiping him because you HAVE to will not get you into heaven, worshiping him because you want to, and following him because you want to will. Good deeds will not get you to Heaven.

Besides, would you even WANT to go to heaven since that means worshiping God for an eternity?

You do know it is impossible to be both an athiest and be agnostic right?

Athiesm is the firm belief there is no god, or higher power and NOTHING could prove to you otherwise. God could slap you in the face and you'd refuse to believe in a higher power outside of yourself and your own choices. This even extends as far as to not believe in religion in general.

Agnostism on the other hand is the belief that there is no god or higher power of any sort in the Universe and that religion is false. BUT if a higher power or god was proven to exist or there was an event that would lead you to believe in something, then you WOULD believe.

I myself spent most of my life being atheist, but I had ot admit that if God did come down from the heavens and smite my ass, I'd believe he/she existed. I personally don't and it would take an actual physical manifestation and the performing of a miracle to make me believe. Basically this thread is for people who are Agnostic alone more the less.
