Never gonna reach that unless I'm still posting in this thread in 2016![]()
Huh I never noticed that many changes (especially the left-alignment) I only really noticed the number of badges. Oh and the report button used to be an actual button under the badges.TopazFusion said:Yeah, it's weird to think that "Posts:" and "Joined:" used to be ABOVE badges, not below (like they are now).staika said:Edit: Disregard that, apparently I am just stupid and forgot that that is what the site used to look like XD
Also, we only used to be able to show 4 badges on posts, and avatars used to be left-aligned (not centered).
Whatever happened to him? I haven't seen him in a few months and he hasn't been on the site in a while. I PMed him near when I came back but that was really the only time I saw him :/TopazFusion said:(btw, "ColdStorage" is DigitalSushi. He renamed his account a while ago.)

Ah so that must be what happened to Caliostro as well since he hasn't been on in awhile either. Actually I remember back when there were a few mods that would never log on but were still listed in the mod list. (It's been awhile so I can't remember their names :/) Though at that time I wanted to be a mod quite badly so I would see which mods weren't on for months as a measuring stick to when they'd need a mod XDTopazFusion said:iirc, he asked for some time off, a while back.staika said:Whatever happened to him? Funnily enough, they let him keep his mod powers while he takes his time off.
[small]Copper Zen had his mod powers taken away, when he asked for some time off from moderating.
Must have something to do with 'time served' as a moderator, or something.[/small]
I guess that would make sense. I always knew that the big red button was only meant to report the post since there was the report button in the profile that was used for user reporting. But looking at it again once you point that out I can see how they could mistake that.TopazFusion said:From what I've heard, some people were reluctant to click the report button on the old forum layout.staika said:Huh I never noticed that many changes (especially the left-alignment) I only really noticed the number of badges. Because it was under all the user details on the left (and it was a big red "REPORT" button), people incorrectly assumed the button was for reporting the entire user, rather than the post.
Now that it's next to the quote button, it's more obvious that it's just for reporting the post.
Dah, it'd suck up your free time. I like my free time. =PEvil Smurf said:I once thought I'd be a mod, I'm so funny.

Does it go on your résumé?TopazFusion said:Yeah, modding takes a loooong time. It's not a quick process.
We get people who report perfectly innocent posts, just to be annoying.
If it's a long post that's been reported, you have to read all the way through it, even if you find the subject matter completely and utterly boring. (R&P forum! Yay! -_-)
If it's part of a long quote chain, quite often you have to read a few posts leading up to it, to get an idea of context.
And those massive shitstorm threads we've been getting recently add a LOT to our workload. Sooo many posts get reported in there, you pretty much end up reading all the way through a 20-page thread.
So yeah, moderating is a lot of work!

Thankfully, I am a good boy, got one of my green bits knocked off (didn't even notice)
Wish it went down a bit faster (like 3 months?) and its completely clean after a year. I doubt trolls would wait a full year to be obnoxious.
I'm not rude when I appeal, I'm calm, cool and collected. It could be that a have a guardian staff member too I suppose.TopazFusion said:I have no idea how you keep managing to do that. I thought the appeals process wasn't supposed to function as a 'get out of jail free' card.Evil Smurf said:I've staved off two probations recently.
Myself and a few others have been wrathed for really stupid reasons in the past, and been unable to appeal them. And yet you keep (allegedly) breaking the rules, and getting let off the hook each and every time.
I don't want to be the one to shout "favoritism", but I can't think of anything else it could be.
(Not meaning to be rude.)

Some trolls are clever though.TizzytheTormentor said:Wish it went down a bit faster (like 3 months?) and its completely clean after a year. I doubt trolls would wait a full year to be obnoxious.
I remember a particularly annoying troll (they got banned a while back), who would troll people and threads all the time, but only actually crossed the line once every 4 - 5 months.
So they never got amnesty. (They couldn't last a full 6 months without breaking the rules again.)
It would've been annoying if they kept getting amnesty sooner (3 months, for instance), and kept on trolling. They'd probably still be trolling today if the amnesty period was shorter.
Yeah, when a pubclub subscription expires, it resets your avatar back to the default.staika said:Edit: Oh I see my pub club expired, now to go renew it.
I think it's so that people aren't able to keep using a larger avatar on a non-pubclub account (since the Escapist can't resize avatars, particularly animated ones).
EDIT:Zeel is another good example of this.staika said:Danyal
After his ban was lifted, he lasted only a matter of hours before he was banned again.
I prefer calling him a bit strong. I didn't think he was that bad, just someone who likes to overreact. A lot.Evil Smurf said:Zeel was crazy!TopazFusion said:Oddly, it doesn't notify you when it goes down a notch.
