Molluck the Glukkon. Evil by corporate proxy. Rupture Farms' packing plant profits are in decline due to extinction of "products", so eventually it takes to grinding up it's own muted and often deliberately blinded slave labor, for the purpose of making into tasty meat products. Basically, destroying the world to make a buck, without any insight into it's own imminent demise.

Stupid, indifferent evil, I think, is scarier than the passionate sociopath.

Dr. Breen from Half Life 2. He is just so creepy and evil you feel good when he plummets to his doom at the end of the game. And raising the question.......di he die when he fell? Or did the Combine save him at the last second.
Breen died. Frohman happened to him.

Kefka is good because in the middle of a franchise where the villains are expected to be deep, complex, and even occasionally emotionally sympathetic, Kefka is a slap to the face - he's flat, but that's just the point.
When were Final Fantasy villains deep or complex?

I mean in the game before Kefka, the party were fighting a malevolent tree.

Since evil doesn't truly exist then I suppose whatever game has some kind of demon as the antagonist.

Most and every villain in games do what they do for a reason, and usually not from malice only. And if they do then that is usually because of insanity or something else out of their own control. Kefka fits that category for example.

Maybe Apocalypse from Silver (if anyone remembers that game) since he was the embodiment of evil if I remember correctly. Pure evil... made flesh, literally. You can't get beyond that really : P

Curtis Blackburn from Killer 7

He betrayed the state and got revenge on a former partner by killing his family, just after raping his wife.

Even before you see his face you are "treated" with a first person introduction of him, killing his way through a building.

But what makes him truely evil is the fact he runs a organ trafficking operation (inside an amusement park) that not only specializes on underage girls...he also STUFFS the dead bodies after he harvested them.
(And uses the organs to create monsters...)

...Oh, and the girls he harvested are shipped in busloads by his crazy daughter that pretends to be a an anime character AND the Chairman of the Education Guidance Council.

Okay, the last part is not that evil compared to the rest...but i just had to mention Ayame Blackburn...i laugh just thinking about her

I have to agree with the Kefka-ites. I think the G-man from HL should get a mention. is he good? Evil? On the fence? We just don't really know. Now thats scary.

I'm going to go with Albedo in Xenosaga.
I'm gonna have to second Albedo. The guy is freaking insane. Honestly the guy really freaks me out, constantly refering to the little girl secondary/main character as his little "Peche"(french for peach).

I don't know. Some of the stuff you, as the player, can do is pretty evil. You should know that I've systematically destroyed entire cities in C&C Generals for pleasure.

Also, he doesn't seem to be more than a puppet for his combine masters.

No one is more evil than the Cyberdemon in Doom 2. He commanded Nazis and strung up Commander Keen... four times! You don't get much more evil than killing a galactic hero who is also a kid in a football helmet with Pong on his watch. There's also that little thing about demons destroying Earth, but that's largely forgivable without the Keen-murder.

Okay Pyrrian, you've made me honestly curious. I never played Doom 2. How do you find out that the Cyberdemon killed good ol' Commander Keen? Is it revealed to you somehow in the game?

Not to just echo what other people are saying, but my choices for evilest villains would unquestionably be Kefka and Jon Irenicus. They are the only two I can think of that inspired actual hate in me and made me want to finish the game for the personal satisfaction of beating them.

kefka from ffVI for all the reasons stated in this thread
Alex (i think it's alex. i'm referring to the water adept from golden sun)
Vlad lem from max payne 2
The majora's mask
shodan
And every other villain who doesn't show his/her true colors until the end (even when you know they're the bad guy from the beginning). And until then, manipulate you into doing everything they want, with you having no choice but to do it.

i dont think breen should be considered a villain. i like the guy. he seems to believe that what he's doing is for the good of mankind. he's just an easy to manipulate guy who happened to be in the right place at the right time.... for the combine

PS: SHODAN got PWNT by GLaDOS, just forget her.
I'm calling BS on that. I have trouble thinking of glados as sentient. Unable to become more than just a faulty AI, she just sits in her lab and keeps on hacking away at the tasks she was built to solve (using people as guinea pigs, I know. Seriously, doesn't anyone know about the three laws of robotics?). IMO she isn't even evil simply because you cant pass moral judgment on her because she doesn't understand the moral implications of her actions. Shodan understands that well, she just doesn't care. She is one of the most genuine, well rounded characters I've seen in a game and easily a better villain.

Over analyzing aside, glados was funny with a side of creepy. Shodan was malevolent and terrifying. As a villain at least, Shodan > Glados.

As for my pick, I particularly liked Deus Ex's Bob Page. A wonderful example of the Egocentric Industrialist with dreams of Absolute Power. As a classic despot, he's a true real-world villain and the game is all the better for it.

Speaking of egomaniacal capitalists, I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Andrew Ryan yet.
