Seriously people how come we let our rights be stepped on by this sort of stuff and just complain in forums, we should flood the Customer Services of companies like THQ for taking away parts of the game just to annoy used-game players.

I live outside of the states, in my country there are no easy ways to get dollars, and now if I wanted to play UFC (and I'm guessing this is only the begining) online I'd have to start looking for a US credit card just to pay the greedy motherfuckers 5 dollars for a game I've already payed (overpriced as in all third world countries) for!?!

The measures they took for Bad Company 2, are kinda cool, they've been realeasing free dlc with the VIP code they give you, but they didn't fucking take away maps or online gaming altogether from the game for used ones!
Everything has a limit and we should start taking actions to stop this sort of punishment from publishers..

Personally I'm all for Project Ten Dollar. I feel as if I should be entitled to some thing extra for going out and buying the game full price on release.

I like it. It doesn't hurt people who buy new in anyway. And people who buy used can unlock it...for a price. And an internet connection.

Not really much we can do about it since nobody has the RIGHT to video games per ce...just another industry joining the ranks of greedy assholes. It blows, but that's capitalism for you.
If we flood the customer support it should at least let them know that we won't buy games that have THAT sort of measures and that it's not something tolerable, shouldn't it?

For that there are extra contents and stuff like what gamestop gives when you buy the game in advance. This is something else completely, 5 bucks to BE ABLE to play the game online is ridiculous.

Plus, it's capitalism. It's a way for the industry to make more money off of you by getting you to buy it new.
It doesn't get free things for you! That is precisely the problem, they take things away from you unless you buy it new... its something else entirely.

As much as I hate project ten dollar, they have the right to it. However, I dont agree with how they are going about it. With Mass Effect Two and Dragon Age I didn't have a problem with it. It was all optional gameplay elements that wouldnt matter one way or the other in the grand scheme of things.

However, with what they are planning for Madden 11 and COD:Blackout (I believe that's its name), taking out an entire element of the game just doesn't work. Even if it only effects the secondary market, it isn't fair to the consumers that buy the game say... three years down the line to play with buddies and find out they still have to pay more than they did for the game.

Sports games keep NO value on the secondary market. You can pick up madden 08 or 09 for less than 20 dollars, if they had project ten dollars... that's paying another 50% to the games value.

Once again though, they have the right, we just have to tell them we don't agree with it.

I don't see the problem with it. You get the full game for it's full price, or a fraction of the game for a fraction of it's price. And it stops devs losing money from pre-owned games.

Everyone is looking at this as if it's such a terrible thing. To them, I have to say "GET A DAMN JOB." The difference in pricing between a used and new game is marginal, and ten dollars isn't going to break anyone's bank.

Honestly, I'm glad that they're doing something that will put money into their pockets. Why you ask? Look how many people got laid off inside the industry just last year. Look at how many companies completely shut down. Getting money to the companies is a GOOD THING because it allows them to pay people, and survive to create more games.

Yes, I see that in your situation it really sucks to buy a used game. Buy a new one then, and you won't have that problem. I have to question though, since you're complaining about living out of the states, have you even gotten in contact with THQ about your personal issues of payment? I'm not trying to be offensive, but curious, because I would think they would work with you to solve your problems.

Not really. All the things I've seen are DLC. Which isn't in the game. And costs money.
Everything that is a day one DLC is something that was going to be (or could have been) in the game, they just take it away and put a price tag on it for the sole purpose of having you pay extra cash.

I buy most of my games used, when the "craze" over the game has long since passed... it's not a marginal difference in prices.
Also, when this sort of measures takes away features when even borrowing the game from a friend, which is simply too much abuse against the users.

You also have to remember Servers aren't cheap, with the current state of Console games online, you're lucky if the servers are on still on 3 years from now.

Don't exactly get gamestop in this country but well, you do get extra content. Mass Effect 2 was the last game I can remember which used ten dollar and well you got the Cerberus network free with plenty of DLC... so extra content for buying the game full price. Now with the extra for going online... bring it, I buy most games full any way so now I get an extra perk for going out and getting it full.
