Because talking about STD's is so normal. Yes.Reaperman Wompa post=9.73468.809811 said:Your point was so well made that no one could think of an adequate rebuttal. But, What if your hero say becomes renowned..And then the people know you have an STD and now shun you. How would that make you feel? Working all that time, And then being kicked to the side?Indigo_Dingo post=9.73468.810063 said:This would be fine if he put it in in a meaningful or realistic way. However, in this sense the game has no life-threatening STD's, and they are actively sought out instead of accidentaly gained (You always have the option to wear a Condom, and theres apparently no "performance anxiety"). So, they aren't actually like they are in the real world, and as such they are actually almost trivializing the whole thing - thus making it worse.Geo Da Sponge post=9.73468.807375 said:Answer: Because if someone, anyone, realises that 'it could well happen to them' based on them contracting it in the game then it will all be worthwhile. On a more down-to-earth note, it helps build up a real, living world, which is rather the point of the whole thing.Indigo_Dingo post=9.73468.803854 said:Ok, this is me being serious - can anyone give any justification as to why the game has STDs? That sounds more like Molyneaux showing that hes a bit immature rather than a major technical innovation. Plus, that is likely to scare off a couple of players, and its not likely to draw any new ones in (at least I kinda hope not - I really don't want to think that there are gamers who are looking for a Chlamydia sim)
Also, it's hardly immature to include something which is a real problem of modern society (unless you are honestly suggesting he giggles at the concept), as compared to say, Ivy's boobs in Soul Calibur 4.
Why is something not a consequence if you have the option to avoid it? While condoms aren't perfect in the real world, it's hardly ridiculous to suggest that a good way to avoid STDs is to wear a condom. Also, you actually have to buy/steal condoms, which means you may well go into romance in a moment of passion when you realise you won't get laid if you go out to fetch a condom, ie. the same reason most unmarried people have unprotected sex.Indigo_Dingo post=9.73468.811680 said:Its not a consequence, you can easily wear a condom (the option is given every time). So the only time it could happen by accident is if you were trying to sow bastard children.D_987 post=9.73468.811578 said:Fable 2 will have a patch with online co - op from day one! =)

As for this whole STD thing, its a stupid argument...it a possible consequence for sleeping with someone, so you don't cheat on your wife or husband as often as you were planning too.
And I think spinning it into a moral enforcer thing went out the window when Molyneaux said it would be better to just kill your spouse than divorce them
I love playing Magic Users to, and having checked out some videos of that style of combat in play, i have to say the game has sold it self to me even more, i never imagined it possible, but watching gameplay footage actually makes me want it more.Gamer137 post=9.73468.814815 said:I am skeptical because I dont like most real time RPGs on consoles, because in fantasy RPGs, I like playing magic users, not sword/bow users. When I play real time RPG on consoles, I always feel to constrained by the linear level of controls. Magic using plays better on PCs. I tried to get into Fable 1, but I felt too annoyed by the controls then I gave up. I am not sure if making the combat even more linear in Fable 2 will fix that.
