this is coming from someone who hasn't played the first two, and kind of avoided playing the first two

my real question is do I need to play them? and dose the third one fix any of the problems with the whole good/evil thing?

Mbaye the fact that I didn't bother with the first two indicates I probably wouldn't like it

You'd have to play the first one in order to figure out if the series is worth it to you or not. If you don't play the first one and such the third will probably ruin the original first two if you decide you want to go back and play them.

That is just my opinion though.

I liked the humor & soundtrack of the first game & resent not getting the 2ed game on my platform, so I'm deffinately getting this one.

i would recommend against it, the series went downhill from fable 1 the lost chapters

Well I really can't tell because I left the series behind.
I played the first one like a giddy little girl many times, and got the second one full of enthusiasm, and it took a dump on my face.
Somehow they managed to make it not fun, the game felt like f*ing work, so I really had to force myself to play it more.

And from what I read about the 3rd its not that big of a change from the second, somehow they are under the impression that was a good step.

I would advise against it. At best, the game is simply good for wasting a bit of time. No comment on whether the story is worth experiencing, but the gameplay involved in getting there is extremely dull and unchallenging, might as well just play itself while you watch.

If it has had a serious patch, then sure, it's a fun little game. It was rife with gamekiller glitches on release though, so don't expect a smooth playthrough.

Also, You are not expected to treat it as an RPG. If you try and have anything resembling an organic playthrough your game will end in fail.

Just make up your own story and play Fable 2. Fable 3 is just a nightmare. Horrible glitches, pointless combat, annoying exp system, rushed story, forgettable soundtrack and overall sucky experience.

Seriously. Don't.

I say rent it or if you have a gaming store near you that lets you just try games out for 20min do that. It's really hard to say on a case by case basis who will like it.

I found the first Fable to be quite enjoyable. It had a nice blend of action and RPG elements, and certain parts of the game could be quite challenging depending on where you spent your points. It probably helped that I hadn't followed the game's development, so I didn't know about many of the promised features that had to be axed along the way.

Fable 2 was a huge disappointment for me. It seemed like the experience was toned down and made WAY too easy. It's literally impossible to die in the game, and magic attacks no longer cost mana. Moreover, I hated one of its most touted features: a canine companion. Sure the dog's invaluable in finding treasures, but he's pretty much useless for everything else. I've always been more of a cat person myself anyway.

I haven't played Fable 3, so I can't really give you my opinion for that title. I heard it's similar to the second game however, so I don't know if I'd like it.

I would be cautious about making a purchase. The series is very hit-or-miss, and your mileage may vary greatly. Perhaps you could try a friend's copy first or rent it?

Fable 1 - Epic, brilliant, unique and Fluid. Needed a bit more expansive gameplay but overall it was one of the best games of it's time.

Fable 2 - Fable 1 with some stupid gimmicks. Boring, felt the same, looked the same, did not enjoy.

Fable 3 - Doesnt look any different.

If you havent played a Fable title then I reccommend picking up Fable 3 as it will have lots of things to do and the original Fable environment and gameplay is still there.

If you have then dont buy it. Unless you enjoy repetition.

I didn't play any of the other games either but I liked it - only gripe I really had with it was that you can't really specialise a character in a particular fighting skill - you just learn them all, so all characters end up the same

For your first question: Yes, you should, but you can easily follow the stories of the 3 games separately, since there's very little reference to previous games in them an none that really matter to the story. Sure, you'll know what Reaver is so annoyed with having to do every year if you played the second game, but that doesn't really matter.

For you second question: What problems are you talking about? There never were any problems.

I'd get it.

The writing alone is brilliant, but you should really play 2 first.

Or you'll have no idea who the 2 ghost brothers are. And those are some of the better parts of 3.

I just want to know one thing: Is traveling open world or is it like Fable 1 with just a whole bunch of set areas that you can travel in but nothing else? That really killed the game for me because I had heard how awesome of an "open world" game it was, but then I just saw it was moving along preset pathways the whole time.
