Facebook irritates me their sh*te

Ahh how refreshing it is to wake up in the mornin' and not be able to access your 5 year old facebook account? Why would they do such a thing? Because they decided my (totally real) name, MG, is not a real name, and proceeded to force me to change my name. (Ironically now I had to use a fake name just to get into my dang account). Now I can't change it back and I hate facebook now because they are emotionally degrading me by teasing my name. I wonder if I can sue them for emotional damages? hmmm? Anyway yeah let us lay waste to the soon to be wasteland that is Facebook.
Please can someone tell me how to fix my name or where I could go to yell at the retards that work at facebook? A link or something?
P.S. I spelled facebook with a lower case because they don't deserve a cap.

Never used social network sites. Don't see the point in them.

In all honesty, people complaining about Facebook really pisses me off. You have access to this site which allows you to socialise with any of your friends who are also on it, you can view pictures, videos, chat with people, have forum-like debates, and it's completely FREE. You don't have to use it if you don't want to, but don't call it 'stupid' just because it's not something you enjoy. It's like criticising Youtube, or public toilets.

If that really is your real name, you always have the option of sending them a copy of an identification document. You'll have to check around their FAQ for specifics.

But I agree in theory anyway, the rules on using a real name are bollox, I know a ton of people who don't and I see no problem with it. As long as you're not posing as someone else, I don't see how it's any of their damn business what your Facebook name is.

Facebook is awesome for organising and promoting events, keeping in contact with people and also lets you know useful information, like when tickets for the shows with the bands you like playing become available.
Also the 'facebook campaign' things are fairly really easy to just ignore.

An image you upload is there forever. No if's, ands or Butts. If you delete the image, it will remain on FB's servers.
Once you make an account, or some other asshole makes an account for you, It is there forever. Again, no if's ands or butts, even if you "delete" it. You thought leaving WoW was bad..
Facebook uses cookies to track the sites you visit, and may automatically "like" things for you.
Facebook's web-based messenger pales in comparison to Steam's messaging service, or anything else out there that can or cannot be accessed by Astra/Trillian.
Know what else is a great way to organize events? Talking to that person! Pick up a fucking phone!
Someone who adds you as a friend gains total access to view your profile, even if you have not added them back, or have your profile set as private.
Nothing, on Facebook... is ever fucking private.
You cannot say no to Facebook, and it is a wonderful data-miner by demanding more personal information to keep your account "secure" and "private".

Facebook is a blight on people who want to keep to themselves, or only provide a little bit of information about themselves publicly. I don't want the whole world to know who I am, and if I don't want to be found, I want to remain hidden. Is that too much to ask?

Facebook will be dead in a few years. The inertia of large numbers of users is the only thing it has going for it, the service itself is crap. I'm not saying Google plus will take over the market, although that's a good bet. Personally, I hope people "wake up" a bit about privacy, and that in a few years the biggest social network will be free, open-source, and non-profit (like wikipedia). That is shitbook's biggest fear!

Well lets see:

1) I realize Facebook datamines the shit out of my information and tracks the sites I visit but i'm not going to the deep web and buying cocaine or some shit so i'm not really worried about them seeing me coming to The Escapist and watching yahtzee make dick jokes.

2) Not every one owns a phone, you realize this? I didn't own a phone for a few months that I lived in my apartment so calling them up sometimes isn't an option. Especially when you make MASS events like parties or group activities that require mass messaging etc (inb4 emailing).

3) Friends get total access to my account? Even IF I have it set to private? I don't get what you mean exactly by them getting "total access." Total access to what? A profile pic and a message that says "this profile is set to private, you must etc etc etc." Explain this point better because I don't understand your logic behind it.

4) Did you seriously just tell me to use STEAM, and I repeat, FUCKING STEAM, to message my many non gamer friends? Yeah, okay. I guess that makes sense?

I'm not some secret fucking agent, what the fuck do I care about Facebook looking at the type of music I like and my pictures of me, my girlfriend and my cat?

edit: Oh and the most important point; Just don't use the damn site if you're seriously THAT private. Nobody is forcing you to and my point is I don't get why people hate it so much because its 'big brother' or whatever tinfoil hat excuses they have for not using the website.
