So facebook is testing a new program called Promote to post where people can pay 7 USD for your post/pics/vids to be seen by everyone on facebook. Can anyone else see why this is both a very stupid and very bad idea.

So, it's kinda like the Promoted Tweets on the Twitter?

If so, I can see how it would be beneficial for, like, companies or whoever. But I don't see a reason for someone like me to use it.

Not that I actually post status updates on Facebook anyway, as I only use it as an instant message system for friends.

Yeah, I can see it being useful in this regard, but I hope it isn't spammed all over the place. Also, this will become the perfect way to blackmail people! :D

Don't get me wrongs its a good idea on paper but when I see it now all i can see is how people can abuse it. and seeing that this is the internet and facebook my assumptions at least has some ground to it.

Well this explains all the facebook cards I've been seeing at the shops...
Still think it's stupid, still they aren't the first ones to do it (Maplestory loudspeakers), they will no doubt sell like ice cream on a hot day.

Hasn't this been a thing for quite a while now, with pages and the like?

Let it happen, the only thing that'll come of it will be a sudden surge in the amount of 'OMG 1 LIEK=1 PRAYER 4 DIS AMAZING GURL' pictures.

Meh, I don't use facebook much anyway, I don't think I've even made a post this entire year. I just use it to occasionally message friends or organize events. I hate the idea of making everything so public.

Well, as the saying goes, a fool and his money are easily parted.

So not only will people still be posting shit that makes me think they have the IQ of plankton...

They can now PAY to post shit that makes me think they have the IQ of plankton...

And people wonder why I don't use that site.

Old news. Also, this is mostly aimed at the normal user base, since companies and pages have had similar options for quite some time. It mostly just means that every now and then, some stupid friend of yours is going to spend money on a post, in which case you can easily select to not see posts from that certain friend.

Wait, if companies can already do this why are they now letting the general public do this as well?

I feel this is relevant

But yeah, besides companies, which it might actually make sense for them to do, it would be rather daft for anyone else to use it.

This shit pisses me off so much. How much of a scumbag do you have to be to take a picture of some poor guy or animal and use it to get likes?

And how fucking stupid do you have to be to like this kind of stuff?
I agree. I wish there was a "Dislike" button for manipulative BS posts like that. My aunt shares those all the time.

So i can pay $7 and have everybody on facebook get the message "FUCK BITCHES GET MONEY" or "HEEEEEEEEEY SEXY LADIES"?
Or have everybody in the world know that one my friends does, in fact, like the cock?

Because that would be totally worth it.

Can i give them $25 and have 'Cherry Pie' start playing every time someone logs in?

Ah yes, people paying for facebook posts... well quite frankly I do not give a damn. There will be dumbasses who will not only tolerate it but ignorantly throw their money at it as if it were the latest trend going out of fashion.

I've outlined the relevant parts.
I still do not see what you are referring to.

Could you paint a couple of big ass arrows and underline what they are pointing at?
