Oh look, someone who isn't happy with something they don't have to use.

Honestly, this happens EVERY time Facebook change something. In a few weeks, you won't even notice.

I can't wait for it to snow so I can throw my child on top of some kind of massive snow log.

I worry for the mothers of the world, what's the point of having an embarrassing photo book to show your kids partners when it's all over facebook already.

Doesn't Facebook's "Wall" already offer this functionality, granted not as easily as "Timeline" appears to.

Privacy-wise, I don't think this will make much of a difference, because it's not like Facebook stalkers are stalking someone because it's easy to do (plus I doubt that Facebook actually has the ability to display your entire lifespan on a single page, unless you're an infant, a cat, or the kind of person who has nothing better to do but make Facebook profiles for cats).

So it doesn't look like "Timeline" will put your privacy in any more danger (it's in enough danger as it is); it just makes Facebook a little more like a Yearbook, only with more youtube links and stupid comments scribbled on it.

Plus it's bound to become obsolete once we discover time-travel..........
Oh no no, I wasn't saying this was making the privacy issue worse, well... actually no in a way I am.
Before anyone could do this but it wasn't nearly as easy, you had to be REALLY determined to find out what Johnny did on the 18th of november 2007
Now you just click a couple times and you're there.
The privacy issue is more than just people being able to see anything you've ever posted (since if you post anything on the net it's pretty much free game) but that's another story for another thread =P

Sigh... why is it every time there is a thread like this, there is always at least one person who makes a comment like yours.
I was stating my opinion about the matter, yes, but I didn't make this thread for me to moan about it, I made it to get other opinions on it.

I can't seem to find any way to opt out of it as of yet, but if I find some way to do it I'll be sure to post it here.

Facebook ... i only use it as a mailbox to keep track with people. Was probably a dumb idea to create one in the first place. They just have too much of a data collecting attitude and those updates are really annoying. Why would I want everybody to get my personal history by a single click?
I should just delete my account but that's not possible. I can "remove" it but they keep all the data anyway.

Meh, they can only see what you put on facebook. If you put something overly private there, it's your fault.

But yes, it does look horrible, and probably should burn. Lots.

Sure, you can say "but nobody but your friends can see it, what's the big deal" which if fair enough and very true
Except facebook and security don't belong in the same sentence unless joke is also in there.
If someone had the will, there are ways to get in.

Facebook should stop trying to fix what ain't broke.
Indeed, and it needs to start fixing what IS. I use facebook solely for keeping up with a few friends, but the chat system is broken beyond a joke.

You're absolutely right don't get me wrong, like I said earlier anything you put on Fb or any similar site is basically free game. But it's.. yeah... Incredibly stupid I think is the only way I can describe it.

I believe they've made it so all the data gets removed after 30 days now, but I have no source to confirm this sorry so in my eyes its a rumour

That's a really good point, albeit a very frightening one.

I just really don't have the ego for this sort of thing. I have an account to keep friends contacts. But I never post pictures, or status updates or even look at my friend's. If I want to talk I call them, or they call me. My life is not important enough to document for everyone to see.

I've had this for a few months now thanks to Household Hacker. I really don't mind it anymore and it makes things easier to find.

Fair enough ^_^ I haven't ever associated facebook with people who have big egos personally but then I don't really understand the concept of having a big ego to begin with.
At the end of the day at least this wont effect you ^_^

That'd be nice. I'll try to get some information on that. It always seemed really weird that they'd keep that data.

They've been doing dumb moves for a while. The only reason I keep any of my accounts running is solely for online text roleplay; barely even that, since there's nothing but idiots. A vast minority are any good. The only way for me to get my stories done nowadays anyways.

But yeah. Ticker? Crappy. Lags the site often. I only like it to check up on who's messaging me.
