So for Christmas this year i'm getting a epic top range gaming computer, and for some reason I can't access Steam! I mean I type in my password, and it comes up saying WROOOOOONG! So I go to forgot password and it sends me an email with a verification code and a secret question, but its the wrong secret question! What Christmas spirit to be hacked this time of year! So is there anything I can do, like get Steam to lock it? But I don't want to lose all the games that I payed for.

Send a hacked account report to Steam. If this is the first time you've hadthis problem you'll be fine. Just be aware, Valve ban steam accounts that get hacked on a regular basis, they won't do it for the first or second time though.

Sorry if this question sounds horribly idiotic but what is Steam?

I'm guessing it's something like Psn and XBL but for PC, am I right?

Either way the most likely best solution is to send a message reporting the problem.

I had the same problem. Email them and tell them that you have forgotten your password and your secret question. They will reformat your account so that the answer to the secret question is the password that they send you. Change your password, then open Steam and use the settings to change your secret question. Oh, and write the info down somewhere for future reference.

:O
Go get it, it is the best online distribution system out there.

OT- Report it, and they should be able to help. You might want to be quick, VAC bans are irreversible, no matter what.

My god, did I not show you that? Hoo boy...

Basically, it's VALVe's game store. You can pay using your credit card, and then download the game to your PC, instead of going out an dbuying the disc. You can download the game to as many computers as you like and only have to pay once, but you can only use it on one computer at a time. You can buy games that aren't made by VALVe too. It keeps all of your games updated, and let's you download demos for new games. It lets you save all your favourite servers for games you like to play. It has a built in chat feature.

erm... I think that's the main stuff. Someone feel free to complete my list if I left anything out...

It's just a place where you can buy games online.
I don't see what's so great about it, myself.
I mean, the games are just as expensive as they are in shops, and I'd much rather have the disk instead of a digital download.

Same. I don't see why people are praising it as "THE BEST THING EVARRR!"

The price is the same, the game is the same, and it actually takes LONGER for me to download a game than to go out and buy it.

There are only 2 advantages as far as I see it:
*Install games on multiple computers
*Automatically updates games.

I resent that. You're forgetting Stardock,D2D and GOG.

No, I just prefer Steam. I mean obviously it's a personal opinion, I haven't polled everyone on it.

Oh I do too, but you have to give everyone credit so you don't sound like a fan boy.
