I have faith in humanity. I have faith that there will be alot of fucktards, douches, bigots, and psychopaths/sociopaths. I have faith that there will be great people who will improve the average human's life, who will sacrifice themselves so that others may live, who will combat ignorace in all it's forms, and who will strive to make the world a better place. And above all I have faith that humanity will survive. When nuclear fires arupt worldwide, when the dead rise to comsume us, when a super-plague sweeps the globe, when an asteriod makes impact with the Earth, when another race desides we should no longer exist, and when the machines deside they have had enough; humanity will rise from the mud and the ash to reclaim its right for survival. Of this I have no doubt.

I believe humanity will continue as always; unwilling, selfish, but ultimately with good in its heart; onward to whatever this universe holds. And maybe beyond. Whether humanity will be a force of creation or destruction (I don't believe in objective good and evil) remains to be seen. But I'm sure eventually we'll leave our mark. 50/100

Let me see... to the "lose all my faith in humanity" thing, was probably when I wear about a man that brutally violated, tortured and killed his wife and sons at the SAME TIME(*****)!, or when that mass murderer admitted that we killed hundreds of is pets to pratice. Ghandi is one of the only human beings that makes me believe in Humanity and I would say 14 in the "hope meter".

Here's my worst. Whenever I hear the WBC (Worthless Bastards Church as I like to call them) protest another funeral of a dead soldier, AIDs patient, famous person, denounce another peoples faiths or insult a country in the name of their violent hateful "god" I'm at a loss as how these people haven't been shot considering how America is sterotyped as having a thousand fucking rednecks with a thousand fucking guns and how those types of people are patriotic to the point of stupidity. So the fact that the WBC hasen't been attacked by an angry mob pisses me off, those assholes shouldn't even be protected by free speech, what they do is a hate speech.
Angry mobs are not the answer...

Also, you've got to remember, the WBC is like... 50 people. If you want to get an idea of media hysteria, just think about that. These 50 people acting like asshats get extensive news coverage, while the millions of other practicing religious types, who go to their church/mosque/synagogue every week get none.

The people that say they are losing faith in humanity are almost invariably the ones examining humanity by its lowest rungs. It would be like if every time Uwe Boll released a film people proclaimed "I'm losing my faith in movies".

Good will always be there, bad will always be there. Its just how the world works.
It may be better to examine humanity by its lowest rungs. Think about it this way, you build a skyscraper and the bottom is faulty. That skyscraper isn't going stay up if its lowest part can't keep it up/support it. The positives of humanity cant stay up forever if our worst parts are greater than our good. If we can change/get rid of stupid people, then maybe I can have some hope for humanity, otherwise its pointless.
Really? I think its more like the movie example I gave. The building analogy makes it sound like the intelligent and great are directly dependant on the stupid people, perhaps they are for food and things like that, but I don't think thats quite what you mean. If suddenly a wormhole opened and 10 million more stupid people appeared on the earth, do you think that would somehow prevent a great musician from writing a great song, or a great writer from writing a great novel?
Like I said, saying you're losing faith in humanity because someone is being a massive prick at the moment is like saying you are saying you are losing your faith in music because BrokenCYDE exist. So what? Their music isn't good but you don't need to listen to them, so why spend your time complaining when you could be spending that time listening to all the great music around at the moment?
Anyway, the evidence of thousands of years of humanity suggestst this is not the case. There is no higher percentage of idiots than there was at any other point in history. Perhaps some of these idiots have a larger soap box to stand on than before, but I think just as many great albums, books and movies came out this decade as in any other.

The ordinary people are jerks, assholes and bags of walking shit, so if someone ask you "Why the world is a mess?", there´s you´re answer

People that come out with such phrases are pussies (I'm not even going to disguise it by saying 'melodramatic' anymore).

Eh?

EDIT: Nevermind, didn't read all of the OP. Thought we were about to get into an interesting discussion about rebirth.

I think that the majority of humans are just plain stupid. The rest of us are also stupid but we at least can use our brains. So about a 6.

Even Socrates [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socrates] harbingered the doom of mankind.

But we are still here. Two-and-a-half millennia later, humanity thrives, despite our depravity, despite our stupidity, despite our desperate adherence to simple, wrong answers.

Do I have faith in humanity? Absolutely. We've made it this far, and seem to be able to surmount any hardship, to the point that we're stubborn to respond to crisis without a high attrition rate. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Real-world extinction scenarios are multitudinous, most unpreventable, short of colonization of space. (Here [http://www.ted.com/talks/stephen_petranek_counts_down_to_armageddon.html]'s a fun list.) Short of such a catastrophe, the human race will continue, and our civilizations will continue to get better, become more civilized, and extend human rights (including access to resources) as technology allows us to further provide for them.

I can say this with confidence, because that's invariably been the long term trend since the dawn of our species. We are extremely social. Reciprocity is hard-wired into our brains, as is preservation of our tribe (not just self-preservation).

Do I have faith in our present society? Absolutely not. Every civilization before ours, be it republic or empire, has fallen (that is to say, transformed enough that it is unrecognizable in comparison to its predecessors) As I mentioned, our resilience has given us hubris, and we're slow to respond to that which can destroy us. America (for example) may fall to natural disaster, to economic collapse (and then violent revolution) or to attacks from abroad (China could easily invade us via sheer numbers). But many will still survive, and the culture we have now will permeate the society that succeeds ours.

(stupid punctuation typos...)

What improved my faith in humanity? Well, me. I worked on me a lot and realized a few things, but the most important is that everyone can change if they decide to do so. A part of that change was to focus on the good things in life, on selfless people that came in mine to give me a helping hand when I needed one, AND focusing on me to try to help anyone that needs me, so I can return the favor - someone to fall in love with life again.

In some Muslim societies (maybe there are other also, I don't know, I am not stereotyping religions, this is what I've seen in a special documentary about a region near my country), womans genitalia are mutilated by removing the clitoris, so they can not feel pleasure and thus not be able to crave for another man. Enough said about losing faith in humanity.

On the scale I am 100 without hesitation. I am aware and have seen lots of bad things, but still. I trust us.

I don't know. It's pretty low right now what with me hearing about people's problems all the time.

When you stop to think about it, this really can be a horrible reality we live in.

Right now....it's at about 3.
Just for the record 0 means that you think us all going extinct would be the best fucking thing to ever happen.
There are days that I feel precisely like that.
I try my best to not hate the Many for actions of the Few (insert Spock joke here, but it's true), but some days life just beats me down.

The one thing that keeps me going is that I know that I can do better than that. If I can lift the weight of the world, even a little from one other person, then it wasn't another wasted day.

The majority of people see themselves as "the last sane person in a world full of idiots" My faith in humanity is at 100

because as bad as some of us are. The fact that we arent all dead yet means we're doing something right. The majority of humanity isn't as bad as some people think. But nobody wants to hear about the vast majority of NORMAL people on the news. The only people we hear about are the psychotic people doing weird shit.

My faith in humanity is, has been for the past several years, and for the foreseeable future will be at 0. People are shit, and the sooner everyone realises that everyone around them is scientifically designed to piss them off in every way imaginable, the better off we'll be.

Hell is other people, and no I have not had a good day :D

As a scripture as literal truth [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naturalism_(philosophy)].

Hence, Skullkid4187, I wonder what you imagine to be unique to Christianity that makes it your last hope for the human race. Christianity is a pragmatically eclectic religion, hence probably not so singular after all. Fortunately so, since humanity will likely never unite under a single philosophy or faith, except that which is ingrained into each of us.

Twilight fans make me lose my faith in humanity, but it's honestly massive discussions on websites like this that restore my faith. Just knowing that there are in fact like-minded people is rather fun.

As for what restored my faith in humanity, is when a lady who was by the river where that ***** threw the puppies in actually saved 5 out of 6 of them.

Now it's your turn.
I'm sorry dude, it's looking like the ***** who threw the puppies in asked her neighbour to pretend to find the puppies to take of some of the heat she was getting.

Anyway, I'm at 100. I try not to judge humanity by the lowest common denominator, I would be somewhere around 0 if I did, there sure are an awful lot of horrible people out there.

This. This is also why all christians are seen as biblethumpers, all atheists as intolerant, and all homosexuals as effeminate ladymen, etc. Because they're the ones that stand out from the normal crowd.
