Well that's just bullshit. Still, Bethesda was always more a PC gamer company than a console gamer company. And I'm a PC gamer, though not much of one at the moment as I use Linux. STUPID MICROSOFT WITH YOUR NON-FREE OPERATING SYSTEM!

Ahem.

In fact, I think Bethesda is actually an amalgamation of the PC gaming gods who insist on depriving the consoles of their place in gaming. So they make crappy ports of games in order to make the console gamers buy ever more powerful PCs. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!

Ahem.

Seriously, Bethesda. At least be willing to shell out a little money for your fans who have PS3s. Make a good version of the game for that console and release the DLC on PSN.

Oh, and while I'm making pointless wishes, make Linux-compatible versions of Fallout 3, Elder Scrolls Morrowind, and Elder Scrolls Oblivion. And I'd like an M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank so the zombies won't get me when the swine flu mutates.

Mainly because when Bethesda was making Fallout 3, they just ported it on the PS3 knowing that the PS3 was a piece of crap..for gaming that is.

My solution...get a PC...no, seriously, it's so much better than both the 360 and PS3 and I also happen to own a PS3 as well as a PC. As a proud owner of Fallout 3 for PC, I can enjoy all DLC for it. Best choice I ever made buying a PC. If you make the change, I can guarantee you'll agree with me and all the other PC owners out there on this one.
Nobody will listen to that, although I completely agree. I also own a PS3, a Wii, and a good gaming computer (honestly couldn't find a reason to buy a 360), and I can honestly say the PC is really the only gaming console I would ever need. But, people are set in their ways.
True, shame though. PC is clearly the winner when it comes to games and additional content.

Exclusivity agreements per MS money. Buy a 360 or a good PC. :p Seriously Sony is really falling apart in the console war. :(
I totally agree which is why I bought a 360. It's not just Bethesda. Valve and Rockstar are in that category too. Today's Lesson money buys ANYTHING!!!!

I am a total fan of Fallout, I think that it is one of the best games ever released but recently I have been getting really pissed off with it. why is all of the DLC going to the Xbox 360, I Can live with 'The Pitt and Operation Anchorage' being Xbox 360 exclusives as they just add small parts to the game, but with the new release 'Broken Steel' it actually changes the ending of the game thus affecting the storyline entirely so why should us PS3 owners be brushed aside by Money grabbing developers, surely they realise that this will affect how PS3 owners interact with there products, if I think that they will keep doing this then I am more likely to go to a game that treats Xbox and PS3 Owners the same way

Anyone have any thoughts on this
You did know this post would attract every flaming dbag on the site right?

Have you tried Broken Steel yet?
I thought I would want it but it's just more overpriced crap. Maybe the Point Look DLC pack will be worth getting jealous over.

Why is all DLC everywhere getting cheesy? You used to get a lot for $10-20 and what you used to get for free is now at least $3.

360 is a bigger-market, so I guess they went exclusive with the dlc because of that.
And this.

You chose.... poorly.

(If you know what movie that line is from, Kudos.)

On Topic: I have to agree with the consensus here, there are more 360s in more homes than PS3s so Bethesda went with the winner obviously. Sony kicks all kinds of ass with the PS2, but i guess you cant win em all.
Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade

EDIT:
And yes, it does suck for ps3 owners. It just seems messed up that the game is not console exclusive, but the dlc is.
Ahh thank fuck for you. I knew that line but couldn't remember where it was from.

I didn't realise the DLC was a 360 exclusive, seems like PS3 owners are getting a bit butt-fucked here. What's Bethesda's reason for this, or have they just flat out said theres more cash in it for them if they make it xbox exclusive?

Would you like some cheese with your whine?

It was announced long before the release that the DLC's would be exclusive to Microsoft. Every console has it's exclusive's. Some have ones that are better than others. I'm sure a year or so from now, the PS3 will get the DLC's.

Microsoft got ahead in the game early. They were smart enough to see this game would pick up, and they understood the importance of DLC's to a game like Fallout. It was a smart move, and the only people they're pissing off are people who exclusively own PS3's.

WHICH I'M FAIRLY CERTAIN WAS THE POINT.

Always glad to help. As for why Bethesda is doing this, there are several reasons that I can think of:
1. The PS3 is intentionally hard to program for, someone at Sony thought that the difficulty would help with quality control. I know, it doesn't make sense to me either.
2. Microsoft and Sony handle DLC differently, and I'm sure this has already been explained in this thread, but it comes down to Microsoft passes the cost of developing DLC onto the consumer, with XBOX LIVE subscriptions, while Sony puts the cost on the developer.
3. This is related to the first two, but my last reason is that Bethesda is historically a PC developer, and the similarity between a PC and an Xbox makes porting content from PC to Xbox much easier than porting the same content to PS3.

Hey, you're the ones who thought "free online" meant "free online". In reality it meant "Developers have to pay to have DLC on Sony machines."

Suddenly about $3 a month for actually having the chance to get DLC doesn't seem to bad now does it?
Actually, when you put it that way (and after seeing all the exclusive dlc... well the stuff for fallout and gta at least), I'm pretty happy with my choice.

I would've been pretty pissed if I bought a malfunctioning machine and paid a monthly/yearly fee (and I hear it's a bit more than $3 a month; what country are you in?) for the "privilege" of buying rather lackluster and way overpriced dlc. I might've been jealous if there was a Shivering Isles calibre dlc, but what I've seen is pretty lame.

Personally I have decided to boycot bethesdas crap after how they treated fallout 3. I mean seriously, theres so many stupid problems like collision detection on the ps3 etc.

It's very obvious the playstation version was an afterthought. Especialy now.
"OHH!!! hey guys theres another system we forgot about"
"whats that?"
"playstation!"
"oh thank god I thought you qwere gonna say the wii... lol"
"yes yes, lol at that, but seriously we gotta get this thing ready for ps3 too"
"Ok we got... 2 days lets do it"

That would be a good indication of why it's not getting DLC. Because they never gave a toss about getting it on the ps3 to begin with. "If we release it and then ignore it, we won't have to look after it and ddeal with the mistakes"
What would've been worse in your mind? The worst-platform version you got or if they'd made it a PC/360 exclusive and not released it for PS3 at all? Considering how much developers seem to hate the PS3 SDK, it's a wonder we don't see more 360 exclusives considering the extra development cost of basically building the codebase from scratch for the few extra sales developers get from supporting the PS3 (once word gets out, people with both consoles will invariably buy the 360 version, and how many people are PS3-only and of those how many aren't just there for the Japanese-studio PS3 exclusives?)

Sony have indeed lost ground in the gaming race but I wouldn't be so quick to rule them out, thier machine is younger than the 360 and has huge horsepower which hasn't really been tapped into yet.

Now I love my 360 and have played Broken Steel and TLOTD through twice but goddamn, when Kratos comes to the PS3 I'm buying one, even if its the only game I own for it.

Get off the PS3 boat. Now.
What and join the dysfunctional Xbox 360 community??? No thanks lol.
Yes? I prefer dysfunctional(360) over failure(PS3) and sellout(Wii).
Xbox 360 breeds the word failure, its funny that MS need to use money to get exclusive DLC to try and win the competition, but PS3 has other plans, so no loss there and in the end MS will just fall short of the PS3 and the WII is a sellout, no argument lol.

Didn't Microsoft sorta pay Bethesda to make the DLC exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PC?
I just wish that they didn't do that since they released Fallout 3 for PS3, so PS3 owners have the game....but don't get the DLC.
Its not Bethesda, Its Microsoft.
