I genuinely thought enclave radio was a pre war recording, and that those eyebots were just old machines the government used to keep patriotism up and that President eden was the man who lost his mind and caused the muclear holocaust. How wrong could I be?
Bit of a spoiler there!

OT: I haven't played BL yet, but what i do know is F3 is extremely good value for money - both in size and playability.
Edited now, you can unhighlight that. Making it a bit less noticeable.

There's a topic right above yours, couldn't you have read the opinions in there instead?

Anyway, if you're after an RPG with shooter elements get Fallout III and if you want a shooter with RPG elements you should buy Borderlands. Both are amazing games in my personal opinion.

Question you should ask yourself:
Do you have three other friends who you can lure into buying the game and then playing together?
No? Then get fallout 3.

Borderlands was fun as hell, but only when I was with my other friends. Hell, I'd say borderlands needs a three player minimum to be fun.

As for Fallout 3, I'd say I was disappointed and pleasantly surprised at the same time. Disappointed that it wasn't a post apocalyptic survivor game and surprised that all of the side quests were fun as hell.
Let's not forget MODS. When the game's starting to get old, install some mods and have fun!

Fallout 3. Mainly because it doesn't have spawn points, and actually has voice actors. Borderlands is pretty much just scrolling text, with an occasional catch phrase puked out.

If you wanna blow shit up. Borderlands. If you want a challanging, true rpg, Fallout 3.

Both are good, but if your on a budget, Fallout 3 is a little older so it'll be different, and easier to find used discount copies of it.

I think you'll have a lot more fun playing Fallout 3. You don't have to depend on other people to play with you when it starts getting a bit repetitive, and, it's cheaper than Borderlands. I think you'll like it.

I wish people would stop comparing the games, I've got both and they are in no way alike. This must be like, what? The fourth thread about this? I don't think anyone cares anymore.

Both games rock! I mean, they are really good. I've played both and Fallout 3 is a little better. I do like many things about Borderlands though, I'm going to get both eventually...

I think they both are a different game style, borderlands is a bit of a live shooter while fallout is more rpg ish with just some live shooter elements.

I prefer fallout 3, because of V.A.T.S and because its not cel-shaded(I think thats what you call it). I hate cel-shaded games.

I like both, but I think if you're looking for immersion and mind-boggling value, then Fallout 3 is your ticket. It is definitely my favourite of the two.

In fact... Fallout 3 may just be my favourite game of all time. And I don't say things like that lightly.

Boaderlands deffinatly, Fallout is fun and all, but it gets old faster than a cinderblock derby.

I've been thinking about Fallout 3 for a while. But then along came borderlands, and now I'm stuck.

I'm not a huge fan of mmos, and Torchlight and Diablo are the only good experiences I've had with RPG's. So I was wondering which one is easier to ease into the whole genre, and generally which one is better value for money?
well borderlands is more or less diablo with guns so would be a good choice. Fallout 3 is a good game, with alot more depth, storyline and exploring, but with the multiplayer with borderlands makes you want to re-play the game more times with friends.

depends what you are looking for in a game really.
By the sounds of it your going to eventually get both anyway, might aswell go for the cheapest of the 2 and if you enjoy it wait for the other to come down in price.
