Co-op for sure. Vehicles are a "maybe". Despite my love of Bethesda, I don't trust them to properly create and integrate vehicular gameplay--even if only for transportation.

I'd like firearms and ammunition to feel more scarce, and be more effective. During the first couple hours of gameplay FO3 has this feel right--you conserve every shot and finding your first rifle or shotgun is a huge boon. But later on, guns and ammo are so common, and most of them so weak, that it kind of kills the feel of the game for me.

Fallout 3 is almost perfect with mods. Only thing I would like to change is the main story. It seemed a bit convoluted and it should not include the BOS or Enclave. In Fallout 2, it seems like the Enclave had been finished, yet they suddenly came back in full force in Fallout 3. That annoyed me a bit.
Well it was in a completely new setting, just because the Enclave was almost wiped out in the old area dosn't mean they aren't going to be badass in the new setting. Also if I'm not mistaken the Enclave was basically the army before the bombs fell or at least thats what I got out of it, so wouldn't they be nation wide?
Actually, the Enclave was an organization made up of the descendants of politicians and military officers from before the war who have connections to large private corporations. They had their main base on the Poseidon Oil Rig on the West coast. What I don't get is, after the rig was blown up, how and why did the survivors cross the entire country to go the DC?
Yeah I just looked it up, they were a shadow coperation mainly comprised to keep "important" people alive. To answer your question I believe it was the fabled writer with the magic pencil that makes the story bend to his will haha. But I'm sure if you look on the vault wikia page it will give some kind of explination.
That's what annoys me... there isn't an actual explanation. The best I can find is this:
The Enclave was not destined to die with the oil rig. Remaining West Coast Enclave forces, under the command of Colonel Augustus Autumn's father rallied to the command of a new, enigmatic President, John Henry Eden, and rallied to the facility of Raven Rock on the East Coast. Unbeknownst to anyone but Autumn's father and later Autumn himself, Eden was in fact a ZAX super-AI developed by the Enclave in the pre-War period to allow the government to be continued in the event of disaster, and had achieved self-awareness and direction. Previously employed as Presidential adviser and Raven Rock administrator, Eden took command of the East Coast Enclave forces. For a further thirty years, the Enclave stayed shut up in Raven Rock, only sending out Eyebots to scout the wastes and transmit Enclave Radio to the denizens.
One line that says they moved east; no description of their movements, why, the dangers they faced, nothing. I guess Bethesda just was lazy with the story.

You should be able to join the Enclave in the next one.
No, no, no, no No NO!

They should be dead by now. I don't want to fight them again, or even join them.

I want Beth to put at least some thought into it, rather than just recycling ideas from the older games...
I agree. A new antagonist would be nice, but even learning more about the East coast super mutants would satisfy me.

I just don't want to deal with more Enclave crap.

Would be nice to see a fallout game that isnt based in North America, starting to get old.
That would ruin one of Fallout's major themes.

I think sense it was the first "real" console port they wanted to make the story new but with some original parts(for the old game fans) and like you said got lazy and didn't really think of why they were there. But I have to admit if it wasn't for The Vault I wouldn't know the history of the original games because I've never played them so I ignorantly accepted the story and actually liked it a lot.

Ah, I always forget that Fallout 3 is also available for the consoles. In that case, I guess the story makes sense. Regardless, I hope they make a better, original story for Fallout 4.
(And set it in New York City, I want to kill ghouls on the R train that I take to school very day!)

Well Im pretty sure Fallout: New Vegas is going to count as Fallout 4, and its going to use the same engine as Fallout 3, The only thing I really want is a little more stability and better looking player models. But since this is Bethsoft we are talking about none of that will happen.

Well actually they are letting Obsidian entertainment take over for New Vegas, and since they have literally destroyed all the games they have come in to contact with ie. KOTOR II, and NWN 2 I doubt it will be any good at all.

Improve the medical system as well.
Though those things can be done with mods.

Also?
Better dialog.
More choices.
Better characterization.
More weapons.
The ability to not look retarded when you run in third person.
oh I'm sorry: we appear to be out of cookies, better luck next time and one thing I forgot, more haircuts, I'm usually gaming on a counsels due to the fact that my PC sucks so I can't mod them in, more haircuts, it totally matters
triple edit: and make a canada DLC for whatever it's set in

Could just be because it was the other side of the country and they remained powerful?

I want it more TES styled, mainly with stats and leveling, but I am not an origional Fallout fan and was looking forward to the 'Oblivion with guns' thing. (So dont hate me origional Fallout fans, I just like TES alot >.>)

I wouldn't mind an Eastern California setting that's chock full of ruins (including the Golden Gate Bridge) and borders the ocean. I also want to hear *even more* famous actors phoning it in. Throw in a dragon or two, that'll make the game perfect!

yes, lets prove Butch right and make dragons, and maybe more towns that aren't some makeshift shacks with guys holding hunting rifles beside them

edit: also since I never played the original 2 are the Brotherhood of Steel better with or without being the hero's of the wasteland?

Put it back in the isometric(sp?) view, such as in the First 3 games. Also, bring back the trait system.
Trait system, yes. Isometric view, no. Isometric view needs to die a painful death and be buried in an open grave. So many of the good things in Fallout 3 would simply not work with isometric view, such as the atmosphere in locations like Dunwich, the vista when you walk out of 101, the tension in dungeon crawls.

Fallout 4 wishlist:
Gameplay: tighten up the shooting, add special finishing moves for melee weapons in VATS, higher level cap balanced by more extensive specialization, better item creation system with less clutter (but not a total overhaul), better fast travel system.
Production values: better animations (critical, Bethesda, absolutely critical), tighter scripting and more extensive testing, less indoors/outdoors load times (would require an engine overhaul, so... doubtful).
Thematic: Different physical environment, same survival of society theme (recipe for success in Point Lookout). May I suggest something tropical, would Fallout: Miami be too much? At least that would provide a real use for the Lucky Sunglasses: blocking glare when a group of ghouls leap out at you from a stand of mutated palm fronds.

Coop wont work because of Vats.
and if it has it, expect it to be like Fable 2s.

I want it to be harder.
by level 5 I had a huge amount of ammo, weapons and armor stashed, in my HOUSE.

it kills the whole point of a "survival" game when you have enough stuff to last 5 life times.
