Is it just me that prefered Fallout 3 MUCH more then Oblivion? I mean Yahtzee got it right when he said Fallout is basically Oblivion with a new wallpaper, but Fallout's world is just more captivating and entrancing (although it's certainly not as pretty to look at as Oblivion).

So anyway I guess Im just asking if Im not alone when I say that I didn't like Oblivion, but loved Fallout 3.

Well, they are very similar, and very different at the same time. May I ask what it was about Oblivion you didn't like?

Well, I vote Morrowind.

I believe Oblivion is way better than Fallout 3..... It's much bigger and you can always come back to it.. While Fallout three has like 8 individual quests along with it's main story....

I could go into more detail one why I think Oblivion is better but thats too much of a hassle.

I still like Fallout though, I just love Oblivion so much more..

Agreed, I expected Oblivion to be Morrowind and it wasn't. I expected Fallout 3 to be Oblivion with guns in a post apocalyptic wasteland and it was. I liked fallout 3 far better.

What they need to do is release an expansion for Oblivion with guns and a VATS system, then the competition would balance.

But yeah fuck Oblivion, it bored me. Fallout 3 FTW.

erm, no you're not alone, I personally prefer oblivion though, partly because it's prettier but also I found the whole dynamic of the game much more user friendly.

I remember finding fallout very difficult when I started playing, I couldn't quite get the hang of everything... until I realised it really is just oblivion with guns. That and obviously the designers have been able to sort out the talking mechanics among other things because, hey, it's their second attempt.

I prefer Fallout to Oblivion because they got rid of some things people didn't like about Oblivion, but mostly because of the setting and atmosphere is more to my liking.

EDIT: I still don't understand what's so hard about creating decent animations in that engine though.

I understand what Yahtzee means when he says that Fallout 3 is more immersive than Oblivion, and obviously with newer generations of games developers benefit from past experience, but I still liked Oblivion better, mostly because of the setting and because, for me, laser guns don't entirely replace spell casting.

I'm gonna say Oblivion, although I loved Fallout 3. Oblivion just has more to it and feels like a much more diverse world then Fallout. Plus Fallout is so easy, with a high perk and VATS, nothing in the Waste can stop you.

It's really all about the enviroment you want to explore. I prefer forests, mountains, and the like... some people prefer wastelands. That's why, although I do love Fallout 3, I prefer Oblivion.

Fallout 3 felt so much more real than Oblivion...I also just felt I could relate to its universe more I suppose.

I personally would go for Oblivion. What's there to customize about a character in FO3? Whether he uses a gun or a melee weapon.

Oblivion:
Bows, swords, axes, daggers, spells.
The creatures were more fun to look at.
You could create your own spells and magic equipment. The real blockbuster for me.

Of course FO3 is going to be more realistic... its set in a pseudo-realistic environment. Oblivion is pure high fantasy fun.

I preferred the scenery and guild system in Oblivion to that of Fallout, however overall i would say that fallout was more fun and had a better story

I like Oblivion more because it reminds me more of the old fashioned Dungeons and Dragons style of game which I love for it's fantasy aspects.

I thought Oblivion was Ok, but i do agree that fallout 3 was way better. The people in Oblivion were just info-bots that had fallen into the uncanny valley. In Fallout 3, however, the people were much more relatable and I found myself much more attached to them.

I dont particularly like either one. Fallout 3 was shit, but Oblivion was just crap. so id have to say I liked Oblivion better.

From a purely gamer stand point, id dont see why Oblivion wouldnt win with its more immersive world, more quest options, and well......you get to hit shit with swords.

Fallout 3 wasnt NOT immersive, ya know, but it just didnt get me to feel that dirty feeling like i had just been wandering around a waste where showers never happened. I did like the VATS system and all the perks.

Vote: Oblivion.
