Actually it wasn't disliked that much. Tactic's was quite decent continuation of Fallout with it's own storyline focused on Brotherhood of Steel. It had same combat system as previous Fallouts just allowed more customization when it comes to your party. It was bit less focused on world interaction however since you just went between missions from your base rather than exploring all the towns.
It was Fallout oriented on combat but still closer to Fallout 1 & 2 than F3 is.
it was disliked, actually. not universally, but pretty widely. the main complaints were that there was no interactive dialogue (thereby removing half of the charm of the old Fallout games), and that it was only partially canon. furry Deathclaws that learned to talk without the Enclave's genetic modding? BoS blimps? BoS Advanced Power Armor?
to be fair, though, it was mainly just the NoMutantsAllowed elitists that bashed it. i consider myself a pretty hardcore Fallout nerd, but i still loved that game for its own merits.

Besides i'm a 21 year-old computer nerd. You missed your mark.
Nah, just kiddin' ya. I don't have a problem with old-school RPGs, I'm just sick of people talking about them.
Guess what ? We're tired of Cod and all these bullshit mindless new games.
This might not be true, but I heard from a very reliable source that there's actually other modern games apart from CoD? Shocking isn't it? And apparently some of them are good too!

Its regarded by many to be one of the best RPG's ever made.
I am one of the many. Truly a formidable game.

Roleplaying doesn't make the money shooters do, my boy! You put execs in power to make money, and there's no money in catering very much to fans who don't bring you the most dollars.

Balls to you, my freind, is there any mention about money on this topic? Or is the income of major game studios and publishers is such a grand issue amongst gamers and especially fans of classic titles?

Having played all the Fallout games, it's hard not to be disappointed by Fallout New Vegas. Exploration is hampered by terrain and untiered enemies that are too easy to encounter; the stakes seemingly aren't as high; the introduction was uninteresting; the various forces in the game don't seem as important or worth caring about; the perks aren't quite as great; the first DLC was an exercise in tedium; and getting to the game's namesake is irritatingly arduous.

Sure, I enjoyed roaming its wasteland, but I'm pretty sure I enjoyed doing so more in Fallout 1, 2, and 3.

OT: Which roots are you talking about? Generally speaking, the latest additions to the Fallout franchise have the most interesting characters; explore more complicated themes; have more plentiful and more striking locales; and more weapons. But in terms of PURE role-play? No, their predecessors have them beat.

The roots haven't dried out completely; the farmer's just shifted the dirt around.

That said, if Fallout 4 looked like Fallout 1 with the memory of Fallout 3 or NV, just imagine how immersive, diverse, and faceted it could be.

I'm talking ofcourse about, that there hasn't been a classic type turn based rpg in a decade, I think they were on to something with Van Buuren, but it got scrapped. What a shame...

I lol'd at you talking about RPing and thinking Vegas is worse than Fallout 3 in that respect, and then you thinking Fallout 1 is 'classic RPing' made me lol harder than I've ever lol'd before.

Huh? your comment made no sense to me.. Anyways, I'll tell you, why I think NV is worse than FO3

Well, here I am, playing, FO3 for the second time, then I heard of FNV, i shat bricks... After like half a year of waiting, watching the same trailers over and over, then it finally came... then I found, that it is just the same as FO3, with less of those random encounters, or i could even say, enemy encounters in general, as i got to lvl20 in 10 hours, i bough the anti materiel rifle, LMG, went to the Caesars legion wiped everybody out, and... thats it, that was endgame for me, as i thought, i'd hit the best moment in the game...

Oh, and there's one more thing, where did all the awesome super mutant encounters go? One of the only reasons, i kept playing FO3, was to wipe out hordes of Super mutants, to see their brains cover the asphalt.

I really liked Fallout 1 because is a new history with no magic and swords

OT:Classic RPG is something very hard to find these days so maybe a little extinct?

Well the thi8ng is New Vegas doesnt revolve around relentless, never ending slaughter. Now if you went into it expecting a genocide simulator like most modern RPGs I can see why you'd be dissaopointed but that's just not the sort of game Obsidian were making.

If you think it's "exactly the same" you weren't paying nearly enough attention.

For starters, factions.

Also, Vegas is much closer to the original Fallouts you so loved, especially with the massive reduction in Super Mutant encounters.

I PLAYED FIRE EMBLEM: SACRED STONES AND LIKED IT (though that's more of a TBS-RPG cross)

Wait, no fantasy. Sorry, I have nothing that hasn't already been said.

It's an industry shift. While I don't think those games should have gone away, they have and we have to live with it...

or buy iPhones.

OH WAIT! I have something: [link]http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/492477[/link]

It's a JRPG and flash-based, but it lasted me awhile.
