Too be honest I just want one game that actually includes Canada. The only game I can think of with canadian characters is Call of Duty 3 where we kinda had a campaign but it was only 3 or so missions. The fact it was set in world war 2 means we all were using the old canadian flag so I assume most americans didn't even pick up on the fact it was even a Canadian campaign.

Fallout Canada will be the series debut of some truly vicious Supermutant Brahmin enemies who will have ridiculous amounts of hit points and rad resistance due to a still-functioning health care system in the Commonwealth.

Oh yes, and perhaps the Brotherhood of Steel will be replaced with the Mounties.

Still, it's worth a shot...

I'm suprised no one's said anything about doing something in Montreal... All the Canada goodness, with french mixed in! You can go at it onr way and have the main chracter (english) encouter a small group of French Quebequers and they can't understand each other, but your character still tries to "interact" with the people (wether you help or kill them is up to you :p) Also you could use the Olympic stadium because of its really awkward design, or use The artificial island containing Laronde (an amusment park) as a base, hiding in the roller coaster shooting people as you ride :p. Many things could be done on the island of Montreal. I mean we have TWO official- er close enough (French is the only official one, but english is still used a lot) You could have a group of French nomads encounter some anglicans and have them dish it out, I mean thats been going on for AGES!

Everyone knows that the only places in the world is America. Everything ever will happen there. No where else.

I quite enjoyed that District 9 made a point of not being in America.
The reason it wasn't set in America is because if you look at the world from an outside view, and there were aliens coming down they would choose the biggest land mass to land, not necessarily the most "important" place (i.e. Washington). An alien species would be more likely to land in Africa, Russia, or Canada, not because of political importance but again because of land size.

But yes, i think it would be a sweet dlc for fallout if it could be somewhere in Canada, I don't recognize a lot of stuff in American city based games because i don't live there(i recognize major stuff obviously just don't really connect). And just so we're clear, weather in Canada is not that different to weather in the northern parts of America, New York and Toronto have the same weather patterns for the most part, unless you compare Nunavut lolz.

There's a problem with Toronto as a setting based on recognizablity: most non-Torontans would recognize it, but just not as Toronto. It'll look just like Chicago,New York, Los Angeles, or any of the various other American cities that Toronto has doubled for in movies and TV shows over the years.

From my understanding of the weather up there, you'd have to stay inside for half the year.

God no, not that many hours of copy and pasted tunnels....
Toronto has like the same weather as New York city.

Have you even been to Canada? We have plenty of large cities. Don't post something ignorant like this without knowing what your talking about.

Fallout is uniquely American. That's just what it is. We are probably going to see Fallout: The Big Apple as the next one from Bethesda.

It feels silly to make this joke so late in the thread, but fuck it, I'm gonna do it anyway:

Toronto's already a wasteland, you don't need fallout for that.

A very smelly wasteland. (God Lake Ontario smells) I say it would still be a cool location for a DLC. (Or a least a freaking mod or something)

The Brother Hood of Veal. (HA, Canadian Bacon joke. Also I'm going to copy right that name)

Americans, Canadians, and everyone else out in the world, what do you think? Isn't it time for some veriaty?
No

The Fallout series has always, and should always, taken place in America. This is for a reason. The game's setting focuses around an exaggerated American gold age that was devastated by nuclear war. The fate of other areas of the world is ambiguous for a reason. Think of all the reoccurring themes that have been shown throughout the series. Many of these are heavily tied to the American setting.

While Canada is a bit more reasonable than, say, China, I still think the Fallout games should stick to America. At least, that's my opinion. I don't think there is any reason to change the setting just for the sake of variety, since there are already tons of varied landscapes and cities here in America.

However I wouldn't mind briefly vising Canada in something like DLC. I just don't want a whole game set there.
You pretty much nailed my thoughts exactly. I wouldn't mind a nuclear winter in Canada that much if it didn't really mess with the story of Fallout in general. We had a DLC that took place in Alaska and that was a huge dissapointment in my eyes.

I don't know, maybe the appeal of a desert wasteland is greater then a frozen one. Especially when the desert wasteland has Deathclaws.

Survive a trip to center island while desperatly defending the ferry from looters attacking anyone foolish enough to take to the water.
Centre Island would be such a cool place for a fallout game. (You could even do something with that little Red Train they have and that Mine Cart Ghost Ride thing)
And yes anyone foolish enough to swim in lake Ontario PERIOD is going to loose some skin. (How about lake Ontario's water turns anyone who drinks or touches it into gouls?)

Doesn't it get ridiculously cold there too? I've been to neither.

They both are much colder than Australia anyway.

Were you being serious? It just pisses me off when American think the whole damn country is snow. That why at the border in the Summer you people with skies on there car. Um... you would have to travel about 1000 miles North to even start seeing hail at that time of year.

Edit: I live in an area with enough green you would think you were in Pensylvenia. I'm only 30 minutes from the biggest city in our country Toronto.
