also, let me be the one to say it. The infinity engine ruined baldur's gate. oh, what could have been...

Don't see how, but then again I'm one of those who would choose Arcanum over Fallout. I liked the setting and loved the story and overall it just seemed to have more depth to it.CrysisMcGee said:It happens.Arcanum doesn't stand up with Fallout.Hristo Petrov said:Try Arcanum by Troika games
The problem was that I got Minsc in my party and he sent me on a quest, but as far as I can tell the quest he sent me on was impossible and now whenever I load my saves he complains at me and then attackls me killing most of the party which means any random encounter will kill me.Dexter111 said:You should seriously give it another go. The starting is harsh and difficult and you can die by stepping in a trap or being killed off by Kobolds but once you Level up a few times and have a little more HP and spells and got a larger group of people (6) to run around with the game gets awesome. And during Baldur's Gate 2 the Awesomeness just keeps dripping out...
If you have problems with some Areas look around the world e.g. walk in different directions and explore and do some other quests. By god there are surely enough of those
And don't forget to install the BGT (Baldur's Gate Trilogy) Mod and a Widescreen Hack for increased Resolution xD

My thought exactly! The backgrounds are gorgeous at times. And the the spell effects and such I find to be rather pretty! (;Dexter111 said:Except all Infinity Engine games we're fucking beautiful because every background was hand-drawn and the characters, spells and effects etc. carefully and really nicely animated.
Also it wasn't as much work so it left a lot of room for improvements on things like story and quests and all that crap you don't get in games nowadays xD
I did, it felt like a railroad tour of the Lord of the Rings told with WHFRP and combat from Diabalo. I fail to see it's appeal. This is the main reason I'm reluctant to try Baldur's Gate again, people keep recomending Bioware games but every time I try them I find them dull and unbelivebly shallow.Tourette said:Try Dragon Age:Origins

Arcanum was, and is, beautiful. Drog just released the patch he was working on before he quit for good. Anyone who has Arcanum should download the patch and play!thylasos said:Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura.Axolotl said:About 2 years ago I managed to get hold of a copy of Fallout 1 and 2. Both are great games but unfortunately ever since then all the other RPGs I've played have seemed a bit rubbish in comparison, even ones I used to love before playing Fallout I just find it difficult to be engaged by them or to take them seriously. Are there any other RPGs that can compare or am I doomed to never enjoy another RPG ever again?
I believe some of the development team are the same, and it's one of the first games to use the technology/magic dichotomy thingummy.
Fallout 3 does not stay true to the Fallout universe. It's unfortunate, but true. While I've heard a lot of good things about it, my experience with it was less than joyful. It made me sad that I couldn't enjoy Oblivion V - Post Apocalypse GOTY edition.timmytom1 said:He wants to cure the problem , not exacerbate it XDJonny49 said:Try Fallout 3 perhaps?
