hm, having guys from the original team does increase hopes for canon continuity, but really, what's fallout canon continuity these days :) I mean, based on what could we hold true that Vault City did indeed join the NCR?

Don't worry. The Escapist Faction shall hold them off.
And if they are defeated, well, let's just say that there are certain measures in place to eliminate the hostiles.

But honestly, I'm looking forward to New Vegas, as I just gor FO3, and it's bloody brilliant!
anywho... i to have big hopes for New Vegas, even if it turns out to be "just more FO3".. then that's great :D

i mean.. more of a good game = more goodness... right..?

I'm not massively concerned with the canon continuity, as long as they make it just as much, if not more fun than Fallout3. to quote someone else, it is also the only single player game I've literally been unable to put down for the past year and a half. Well, I have now I've got all the 'cheevos, but I've recently re-rolled another character, just to have a bit of fun :D

Also, If Obsidian keeps the Fallout IP, or if it goes handed back to Bethesda, I wonder how FO3 will tie into canon. If Bethesda gets it, I'm pretty sure FO3 will stay canonical. If Obsidian keeps it, who knows? I'm interested to see how that all goes.
Bethesda owns the IP entirely, they're just licensing it out to Obsidian. Anyway, considering it'll take place on the opposite side of the continent and at the end of Broken Steel the DC BoS still lacked any practical way of reaching or even contacting the west coast, I doubt Fallout 3 will have much bearing on NV, or any game set on the west coast.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this. I loved the first two Fallouts and KotOR 2, so it'll be interesting to see how a modern Fallout made by the old developers will turn out. Heck, even if it's basically like FO3, I'll still be happy, considering how great FO3 was.

Heh, guess they should've named this one Fallout 3, and FO3 should've been Fallout: The Capital Wasteland. I just hope that this modern generation knows a bit about FO1&2. Because if they don't get any of the references, they may be kind of confused with no tie-ins to FO3, other than the occasional faction mention, and the super mutants. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people are disappointed just because the references to the previous entries into the series are older than they are.

Well, if the game does well, I'd like to think it'd revive interest in the first two.

Actually, I think it'd be fair to say that FO3 already managed to do that, considering the Fallout Trilogy pack (FO1, 2, and Tactics) got onto the best-seller list for a month or two about a year back.

I'm not a huge fan of FO3 (just to make it clear) I don't consider it the third iteration of the series, more like a 'Fallout: Random Adventures' kind of thing.

What bothers me about New Vegas is that its going to be the same *dated* oblivion engine.

Honestly, I felt that thing looked relatively limited when FO3 released, let alone *now* after we've feasted our eyes on games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2 and value's Source engine.

Sticking to the Oblivion engine in this day and age is flogging a dead horse. Time to move on folks.

On a different note, thank GOD for Obsidian entertainment. I felt that FO3 had about as much depth as a kiddie-pool narrative-wise (a far, far cry from Fallout 1 and 2) so this could very well be a step in the right direction.

I remain hopeful, but realistic.

Not sure I will love hardcore mode, but I am looking forward to this game.

In terms of continuity, I simply cannot see things being ignored. Likely the worst, most negative actions will be carried forward.

fallout NV looks really fun from what i have managed to wrangle up about it and i dont mind cannon continuity that much so long as the games story is not ultra disjointed

I yawn in utter disinterest at another Fallout 3 DLC.
what...the...fuck... I'm glad to se the first commenter have definitely checked in on what exactly Fallout NV is before commenting.

OT: I wouldnt know, i would figure it probably would mention a war between them maybe.

Remeber in F2 when you could give a sperm sample to be used in a future reproduction matching? I just thought that if they remember that then you'll probably see some person bragging about who they're from. lol that would be an amazing allusion

So if you are not interested in the game why did you post in the thread? From the other posts I have seen you leave on this thread it seems as if you are trying to incite flamewars.

On Topic: I had heard a rumor that they were putting an early design of the M-16 into the game. It was a just a rumor I heard about though. I am glad it isn't a sequel to Fallout 3. Kinda shows how other people in the world have their own stories that happen in the game.

Peta Michalek = Troll stop listening to him.

I can't wait for it. My g/f can't wait for it either. although she plays until she sees a bad guy and then either screams and shoots in random circles or throws the controller at my face with perfect aim haha.

I completely agree. I've only played through FO3 once, and had no interest in buying the DLC because of this.

I've yet to hear anything official from Bethesda (or anyone for that matter) other than New Vegas will make mention and references to previous Fallout games

So nothing yet is said to be canon, so I guess they're holding out on us until the actual release.

I believe thats the wrong kind of attitude to have for posting in this thread, you're not really contributing or even being particularly nice about it.

O.T: I haven't heard whether they will, but I really hope they do take stuff that happened in Fallout2 into consideration for NewVegas because F2 was an mazing game.
