Well to be honest, i prefer the New Vegas swag.

I'll get more fun out of a deck of cards and some poker chips than a bobblehead and a DVD, and that clock is just tacky.
Its the sound track, one of the best game sound tracks ever.
And the clock can be modded quite easily to put say.. An iPhone on it and you can prove how much of a nerd you are! (I want that watch..)
I did not realize this, though i still don't have an iphone, and don't really care for them.
What's more, the sound track kind of got on my nerves after a while. o.o Butcher Pete is nice about the first 30 times, then it kind of slowly grinds against your brain. o.o

The Collectors Edition Fallout 3 my brother got only had the Lunchbox, Bobblehead, art book and making of DVD... so after reading the first half of the OP and the first pic I thought they seemed fairly even...
But the Pipboy clock... thats pretty damn cool...

Yea, but wasn't the Fallout 3 Collectors Edition mad expensive, while the New Vegas one is moderately priced?
100 dollars for the New Vegas collectors edition, 120 for Fallout 3.
$100 for the New Vegas collectors edition? You have to be kidding me. I mean, the Halo Reach limited edition has just as much stuff, and it's only $80.
But those things are just crap

For New Vegas you get a deck of cards, 7 poker chips, and a DVD, and a Graphic novel all together in a special box.

For Halo Reach you get a book, an ingame armor permutation, a special metal case for the game, and various little nik-naks and patches.

Now despite how you might feel about the actual games, you have to admit, the content in the collectors editions is pretty much equal, and yet the Fallout New Vegas one costs $20 extra.
Well, I like both games, but the New Vegas things just seem more appealing.

In the fallout 3 spec ed, you get the lunchbox, while new vegas seems to have a cool 'rusted' metal box (hopefully still metal not cardboard)

Collectors Edition?

Does that refer to 'Collecting Cheap Shwag'
or 'Collecting Money from Suckers'?

The Fallout 3 one that came with the Pip Boy was the survival edition. The regular collector's edition brought everything except the pip boy. That's the one I got. Even comparing it to the regular CE, the New Vegas CE is lacking. Having said that, I do plan on getting this.

I was already excited to learn about New Vegas' gambling minigames, but this Caravan original card game intrigues me.

consider me even more excited.

I buy my games on Steam, also New Vegas has a higher value as a game, for me at least, seeing that Bethesda brought in the Black Isle dev team that worked on the original Fallout games.

I commented to the worthlessness of the New Vegas CE back when The Escapist reported it. I still think a pack of cards and a couple of poker chips (minus the standard DVD and art book CEs come with these days) doesn't justify an extra $20.
