I recomend this

I'm about level 11 right now with a lot of points in Guns, Science, and Speech. The rest of my skills are around 25 points each. I'm currently carrying Lucky (a very decently powerful Revolver), That Gun (an even more powerful pistol that shoots rifle rounds), a Caravan Shotgun loaded with Solid Slug ammunition, and a grenade rifle. I'm also packing 3 frag grenades and mines each. Finally, I have Boone with me.
Anyway, I've been getting through the game pretty well so far this time. This is probably my first runthrough using Guns and explosives rather than Energy weapons. Of course, as I'm leaving Camp Forlorn Hope, I seem to have run into one very angry Deathclaw. I've been killing the young Deathclaws by the dozen but this Adult is the first creature to kill me in this run.
So, who has ideas as to how to kill this thing? I tried crippling its legs with the slug rounds from my shotgun in VATS, but that ended with me as a pile of disconnected limbs.
This is exactly what I was going to say. That combination of equipment is not challenging to get. Only problem is burning through ammo reserves but that is only a real problem in the deathclaw sanctuary. Make it easier with Boone and if you can manage it use the enemy's pathfinding to your advantage. For example find a highish rock on a hill, stand on it and keep shooting til the deathclaw is on you, jump off rock so pathfinding makes it run around the rock and during that time keep taking shots as around the rock while using the curve to protect from the deathclaw jump. It won't save you forever but with luck you can whittle it down.andreas3K said:Get a Hunting Rifle, put a scope on it, sneak, spot a Deathclaw in the distance, aim, shoot, and keep shooting until it's dead. And only fight one of them at a time. You can also lay mines in front of you before you start shooting, so that when it comes towards you, it runs over the mines.
Ditto this. Even with full skill points (console commands how I love thee) and a full condition Anti-Material Rifle Deathclaws can sometimes survive a sneak attack critical bullet to the head. In F3 they were pretty easy to kill after level 10ish depending on what gun you had but New Vegas beasties are hard!Darks63 said:Even at level 30 they are a serious threat your best bet its to level up and avoid deathclaw areas for the time being.
