Basically how STALKER Call of Pripyat ended, awesome.
No, not awesome. Ending in an open world RPG is stupid.
Then what is there when you do everything? You just quit playing?

Such a shame that you can't continue the game after the ending; it was fun blasting mutants heads off with the gatling laser in F3. :\
I have heard that you can continue!

What? There were seriously people who thought Fallout: New Vegas wouldn't have any Vaults?! Thats beyond ridiculousness!

The Hardcore mode sounds really interesting, I will probably activate it on my first play-through. It's nice to see developers adding difficulty through game mechanics and not only by giving enemies more hitpoints.

On the other hand, Obsidian has never released a finished game
After Alpha Protocol you've got to wonder a bit.

I will get it sometime, I'm just gonna read the reviews first.

I liked how each of the vaults in F3 had a sort of "Mysterious backstory" Which you'd piece together from various notes and holotapes found in them. Hopefully New Vegas does something similar.

You could always make a savegame before the final quest and just have fun from there. There's going to be explicit warning that yes, this is in fact where the game will end. I'm actually glad they haven't sacrificed story in the name of the game, and it sounds like they're handling it well. I guess we'll see in four days, right?

This game is going to make me fail my course, I just know it.

Hmmm, well I already have my pre-order in (though I expect Amazon to get it here late).

The only part of this that really worries me as an RPG fan is what they say about the shooting mechanics. The problem with "iron sights" and so on is that your combat abillity is supposed to be dictated by your stats, even when your not using VATS. The abillity to use a gun in Fallout 3 between say a skill of 20 and a still of 80 is profound in how effective
you are, and most people who were complaining about the gunplay were mostly complaining that it wasn't a FPS and their newbie couldn't twitch through the meanest monsters in the game (though by the end all the enemies become fairly trivial).

I mean I don't mind the iron sights, but I'm thinking they should be entirely cosmetic. If the game handles like a twitch fest I'm going to be a bit disappointed.

The studio is aware, what there also aware of is that every game machanic that goes into their game that people dont like will be fixed by modders free of cost for them. I believe that they actully count on this happening at this point and biuld their games as such.(see fallout 3 and oblivion for every piece of evidence for that stament you will ever need)

Maybe, maybe not. Perhaps I missed it but I do not remember seeing anything about a GECK being produced for New Vegas, although most people seem to assume there will be one.

As far as the mod community goes, I do not think that is an excuse for bad game design, especially seeing as even with a mod-friendly atttitude, they have had some REAL difficulty keeping their own updates, changes, bug fixes, and expansion pack tweaks compadible with the regular usage of their building tools, never mind any kind of custom code.

Mods are okay if you want to put them in and then never change the game from that point onward (patches, DLC, etc...) but otherwise I have little faith in them.

Opinions vary on the right desicians, but I do tend to think that the stat based combat system should be the default for the game, even if it is running in real time and from a first person perspective. Especially if they intend to have weapon skills in the game, which I believe they do (though I could be wrong). Weapon skill and Iron Sight aiming are pretty much mutally exclusive if the sights are anything but purely cosmetic.

Aw man, an ending? As the kids nowadays would say, "lame!".

I should at least be given the option to explore the world after I've completed the main quest, and while some of you may say "then just don't finish the main quest!" that's beside the point. I shouldn't have to put off finishing a story just to be able to explore with my current loadout.

But anyway, enough of that ranting, time for some New Vegas-ing! I'm mots likely going to get it for the PS3 since it's where my trophies at and I'm not a huge fan of mods. I'm too paranoid to fuck up my computer even more, so I doubt I'll participate with the mod community and just play it as is. I might be missing something, but oh well. Plus, I'll be able to swap games with my friends for one of his games, so that means more trophies for me!

Plus, hilarious bugs always put a smile on my face :D

I'm excited for Hardcore mode- using mods to accomplish all of those things was messy and complicated, and using too many of the things made me lose interest. It's like you aren't even really playing Fallout anymore, if you follow.

I never really liked the Vaults, but, hey, whatever works.
