Hi chaps,

What is everyone hoping to see in fallout new vegas? i'm personally a big fan of fallout 3 and would be happy with MOAR of the same, but what could be added to make it even more awesome? I'd love to be able to visit area 51 and find out more about the aliens that crashed in 3, and i would like to see more faction based gameplay like the fighters and mages guilds etc. from oblivion.

And if i choose an evil path, i want it to genuinely affect the outcome of the game, and not the weird scenario that i found on my first playthrough of being really evil but still having to work with the so called good guys to switch on the purifier.

So lets have your thoughts and ideas, and please try not to use this as a thread to list the faults of three, there's plenty of those already.

Holy crap I can't wait for this. Let it be the Fallout to silence the van buren starved naysayers. And give me a trained mountable yao guai upon which I may roam the wastelands with speed and style.

ooh and hire some voice actors that aren't made out of wood. Obsidian, the ball is in your court.

Better combat than Fallout 3, not necessarily turn based etc etc but if you're gonna go for first person either make VATs an absolute must (I barely used it) or refine the combat/AI so that it's on par with at least Halo 1.

I'm confident given that it is being created by some of the original Black Isle folks that it will have a higher RPG standard too, and maybe some of the original Fallout humour can come back.

A belivable sense of wasteland, not a destroyed quarry with 1 mission/landmark/enemy per square inch

I'd go for, I don't know, maybe a return of the classic top-down look, maybe make it look less like Diablo II with guns and more like Fallout 3 top-down?
Also, an exclusion of the pip boy. I don't know why, but I hate it. A lot.
New energy weapons would also be beneficial.

You can already find out about the alien ship that crashed in fallout 3 in one of its yet to be released DLC's; mothership Zeta.

Just give me more and more of fallout 3 and i'd be happy. Put iron sight aiming into the game, that would improve the combat a lot.

Won't happen, it's been said that Fallout NV will use Fallout 3's engine.

You mean like gambling in Fallout 2?

Because that's essentially wasting skill points on a useless skill that's only purpose is to get you an infinite amount of caps without you having to even try.

Bring back the Traits. I love them from Fallout 1 and 2, so I'd like them to return
Yeah that would be nice. Also they should design the skill point system like the one in Fallout 2, with your tagged skills costing less skill points to raise rather than just getting a 20 point boost.

I never played fallout 1 or fallout 2 (Don't kill me, please), so I have no nostalgia involved in rating Fallout 3. And from a 'fun' standpoint, it was a fantastic game! I liked everything about it that wasn't horribly broken! I think that new vagas should keep most of the old things, but make it feel like society TRIED to rebuild itself. The pathetic attempts at society in fallout 3 were a little disappointing. Maybe if the map was larger, and maybe if there were tons of locations, small towns and big cities, it would be cooler. You know what we would also need? More weapons. It couldn't possibly be too hard to throw in a whole creative assortment of kickarse weapons. The modders online have done it.
In conclusion, I'd want:
More playable area (this includes area inside buildings)
More towns/cities (and BETTER towns and cities, i.e. Canturburry Commons was pathetic)
More weapons (The assortment in fallout 3 was on the bland, but interesting.)
And More customization of your character (clothing, etc.)

from what I hear about fallouts 1 and 2, they sounded like TERRIBLE games (don't kill me please) even if they were funny and creative. Turn based combat? Fallout 3 gave me the impression that I was playing a post-apocalyptic, super-man of myself. But it also let me feel like I was playing an FPS. I liked that.

Iron sights, more guns, larger maps, Just improvements overall.

Some kind of vehicle would be nice. Even if it is an animal.

Fallout and Fallout 2 didn't revolve around the combat, and it was actually possible to get through both games without firing a single shot, and through the first one without ever conducting violence. Being based on pen-and-paper games, the experience was almost as close to a tabletop RPG as you could get with a computer platform, so their focus was on a great amount of choice and remarkable dialogue more than it was on combat. For quite a few gamers, violence was the aftermath when things went tits-up.

I relate that in my review of the game here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.67686#605763], one of the first reviews I did on this site.
There's no doubting that the original 2 were incredibly creative. It would be so nice if the developers could go back to that. A game like Fallout 3, Fallout 2, and Fallout combined. Alas, I doubt that Fallout: NV will be like that. We should take what we can get though, right?
