I'm glad its coming out in the fall... otherwise I'd be spending my whole summer locked indoors, not bathing, eating crap, and drooling over my bottle-caps counter.

I found the New Reno section of Fallout 2 to get a little dull after a while, so I hope it's not just a revamp of that. I mean, sure, the families were great the first time, but I thought it somewhat overstayed its welcome. I hope it'll work out okay.

Having said that, I really ought to actually play Fallout 3 and see what Bethesda did to the franchise. Unfortunately, I get the feeling that my experience is going to be tainted by the nostalgic feelings I've got for the first two.

Bah ... I found exploring morrowind to be infinitely more interesting than Fallout 3 ... not one (decent) highrise you got to explore. Rifling about highrise apartment blocks and office buildings would have been wicked ... but nooooooo they gave us a 'city' that felt like a dilapidated village.

Fallout is all about 'Nukes are not very nice things' and that message is lost when you provide a backdrop that basically says "Yeah, but it didn't turn out all bad, did it?"

That being said ... unfortunately I'll buy it inspite of myself and my cynnicism and just pray that hit the nail on the head this time.

Why don't they make a truly NEW experience by having a Fallout game somewhere exotic ... like Hong Kong ....

Seriously ... a huge island surrounded by irradiated water ... focus the game world about not just exploring the ground, but searching upwards as well. Rendering and creating vertical adventures .... and 'settlements' that occupy a single huge office tower.

INTERESTING concepts of social development... with the heads of powerful settlements occupying the presidential offices above their underlings in the huge spire.

That way, instead of 'blow up megaton' style mission ... you can just collapse the support beam in the center of it and watch a tower collapse .... far more interesting than a nuke going off.

Hopefully FO:NV will deliver that feel of a world that is truly turned upside down.

I didn't like Fallout 3 as much as I did, and while I got very excited about 3, I think it was mainly due to the fact of "Holy shit, Fallout's back!" rather than the actual game. But this looks very, very good.

three fucking pairs of pants. can they please stop releasing stuff on this game, I'm going to run out of jeans really soon. but this is a good thing saying my level thirty in fallout 3 has almost every supply available in the wasteland. and isn't the museum of atomic study in Las Vegas? that would be a fun place to explore.

It sounds interesting i'll admit that but if it's made by obsidian then i'm afraid it'll just be a bug ridden mess of a game like everything else they've ever done.

Yes, it'll be just like real-life sin city! I hope they fixed up the weird dialougue and voice acting from Fallout 3. My only question is, with so much exploration to be done, will you be able to drive vehicles?

I'm to go ahead and be pessimistic and call bullshit on the hundred[b/]s[/b] of hours. Developers always exaggerate when it comes to game time.

A hundred or so...maybe. Fallout 3 took just under that if you explored every nook and cranny.

I'll certainly be interested to see what will happen when someone else gets a hold of Bethesdas massive landscapes. I'm just not allowing myself to get excited yet. Just bury those feelings beneath the surface Nathan, you've had your heart broken too many times before...Hu, a nose bleed...

hmmm, it better have gambling in it. "new" Vegas or not, without gambling, hookers and drugs, it shouldn't deserve the name.

Guess we will see if Obsidian has the quad to put that stuff in it

Kind of seems like their throwing out the post-apocalyptic setting for a more modern day one. I don't really mind though, I would like to see something different.

Not really, they just follow the Fallout 2 timeline, where you can see the West Coast gradually being rebuilt.

Aside from the disappointment of an amnesia based story line, I'm incredibly excited... Which will probably bite me in the ass, later.
There was no mention of your character having amnesia anywhere. He was carrying a package as a courier, was attacked, barely survived, and now wants to know who attacked him and what exactly was in the package.
You're quite right, I guess I jumped the gun. I take back my previous statement, and hold to the fact that I am excited for this game.

I'd assumed this was some kind of DLC add-on since that's all that seems to get made for A-list titles for a few years after release.

This sounds pretty cool, maybe I'll finally go out and get Fallout 3 so I'll at least have an idea as to the storyline (even if New Vegas is removed from it.)
