I love Fallout:3. Ive spent easily over 150 hours playing it. Do you guys think that New Vegas is going to be as good or better?

My feelings are the opposite. FO3 was fun but it always felt like after a certain point there was no real reason to keep playing except to finish up quests. I'm hoping that New Vegas can avoid that feeling.

You can bet your left testicle. I've been anticipating it's launch for many a month now. Don't listen to anyone when they say "I doubt it will be as good as Fallout 3." Because they largely used it as a jumping-off point, making tweaks and additions.

This. Fallout: New Vegas looks to be more of the same. Now I like Fallout 3 so much that this doesn't really bother me to much. But i do know that it simply won't compare to that first time I played Fallout 3, and the amazing experience I got from it. It will be more like playing a very long expansion pack rather than experiencing a new game, and becuase of this it simply can't surpass the first in terms of quality. Even if it is technically a better game. the experience just wouldn't be as exciting and entertaining. Now again I'm not saying it will be bad. If I thought that I wouldn't have pre-ordered it. But I am going into this expecting an extension of Fallout 3, and not anything that would really surpass it.

If it does prove to be better, I will be pleasantly surprised.

I like to explore open worlds even when I have no clear goal or motive. It's just the kind of person I am. So Fallout 3 and Oblivion are some of my favorite games. I realize they have tons of flaws, but I'm able to overlook them due to my personal preferences. I don't pretend that they are a flawless games though.

Also I tried playing Fallout 2 a while ago. I won't deny that it was a good game, but it definitely shows its age. People rag on Fallout 3[ for being a glitchy mess, but I think Fallout 2 was even worse.

Bethesda's crashtastic engine being used by a company that hasn't made a game that can reliably be finished with a nasty world ending bug or two creeping up?

It's doomed bug wise.

But anyway, get it. It can only hurt financially. It looks different enough to be worth it and the studio that's making it are a lot better at stories than Bethesda.

Well as current information has stressed, the Courier will not be omnipotent such as the Lone Wanderer. Causing (or at least trying for) players to specialize. Double the weapons (or so they say.) A bit more emphasis on story. As well as an exceptional amount of quests vs FO3. So take from it what you will.
I think it will be good in the least, can't say that it will or will not be better until it is released.
I liked FO3 as well as FO1&2.

It's an Obsidian game, running in a Bethesda engine. You wonder if it will be buggy? Every time the game messes up, take a shot. You'll be promptly hammered.

Now, you make the claim that a game made in 1998 is BETTER than Fallout 3. I find it surprising you can even compare two games that were made a decade apart from each other. Probably the only reason you say F2 is better is because you played it as a child. You now feel nostalgic whenever you think about it, and as time goes on you idealize the game and make it seem better than the pixelated nightmare that it really is.

Have I done a sufficient job reminding you, or do you want me to dedicate my afternoon to pleasing you?

But in all seriousness, I've had this argument plenty of times. I prefer the tactical gameplay of Fallouts 1-2, and most people prefer the more action-packed Fallout 3. It's an opinion.

Yes because a new story, new characters, new weapons, new developers, a new map that
is then Fallout 3' with no relation to Fallout 3 what so ever is definitely an expansion.

I have high hopes for it, although the iron sights aiming feature is kind of iffy with me.

I think its an optional "mode" thing you can turn either on or off(off being like fallout 3) in the menus.
