This game isnt an expansion pack at all, yes it is in fact built off the same engine and idea but thats what a sequel is supposed to be. This game has new and ingenious settings, lots of color and humor which I loved and new weapons and subtle but groundbreaking changes that fix some problems F3 had and add to the good ideas. Iron sight Aiming for example. With a longer playtime than Fallout 3 this game will last for a LONG time. Call of Duty: Black Ops and Halo 3 were the exact same games as their predecessors except for a few subtle changes etc. but people love these games because theyre good, and Fallout 3 is good, if all you can do is complain about the bugs of such a huge supergame before moving on to some other stupid shit to complain about once the 50 patches and DLC all come out by x-mas then go ahead Ill still enjoy this game. Bugs are bad but Fallout: New Vegas is great and if you dont think so then you must be stupid, Happy Holidays <3

The game has many flaws (I am having a blast with it regardless, and I couldn't get into fallout 3), but please stop harping on about being forced to visit set towns in a set order, it's not even close to being true.
Personally, I'm really glad there's no level-scaling. If there had been, I wouldn't have bought the game.

Don't like it don't play it It's just that easy.
Your logic is so irritating, yet it pops up on every single complaint thread about games.

If you don't like his complaining you shouldn't post.

If I don't like your logic I shouldn't post.

etc, etc, etc

Why shouldn't he complain that the game is bad and that he feels he/you all have been duped?

He's not even saying he's being forced to play it, hes just saying its shitty. WHY DO YOU EVEN
wow chill out, I posted because I had something to say, other than just my above phase. See it as more of a side note rather than my main post.

I just can;t envision how anyone would write that out. Review it. Then click post. Its the most reiterated idea I've seen on these forums.

Should review magazines only discuss things they enjoy?
Obviously not.

I would like to see one scenario when this tidbit has any justification on an internet gaming forum.
Easy it's my opinion, infact the fact your attempting to argue over this is very childish and hypicritical. So lets please get back on topic.

Your opinion? Well then, my mistake. Here I was thinking opinions were things to examine and discuss. Requiring justification or consideration before concreting in one's mentality. Clearly though opinions are things for people to spew forth pointlessly (I mean what's the purpose of a discussion board if opinions aren't changeable or important).

Furthermore; it's "you're", "and it is very childish" and "hypocritical". Google chrome has an inbuilt spellchecker if it's too hard but it won't catch your you're/your or their/there here/hear etc.

We were on topic. You were suggesting that he shouldn't complain about Fallout NV and I was suggesting he should. If my rebuttal (for lack of better word) is off topic then so was your comment.

It is childish to hide behind cliches' of "its just my opinion".

Please explain how I am being hypocritical.
troll all you want sir, your only making your self sound petty.

also my opion is my own if you don't agree fine, but in the same token don't try and change just because you have nothing better to do.

Oh and fyi, I have a minior disorder that causes me to overlook spell and gramatical mistakes. So unless I look over every post like it was an grand essay, I am going to make a few mistakes.

Finally do me a favour, get over your self and stop trolling.

Ok, Fallout New Vegas has been out for a while and everyone seems to love it. My question is why ? People seem to be running around blinded by nostalgia about Fallout games, ignoring its many and obvious faults.

The game itself is only 6GB's which is half the size of Fallout 3. The game is essentially one big copy and paste, many of the textures and and environments reused. The vault you find in New Vegas is such a clear copy and paste its laughable and the world is tiny, and not even a sandbox.

I know its all open free... technically but the game controls where you go by having immensely overpowered mobs herding your movements. So you can really only take one path throughout the wastelands. Its really linear gameplay, any attempt to break out and go on your own usually bugs the main quest which is also, very easy to do. The game punishes you for taking choices it doesn't approve off or heading in directions it doesn't like. A friend of mine managed to sneak past the Deathclaws and make it to New Vegas early on. Only to have the main quest instantly update to catch up, skipping 50% of the content and then crashing.

Speaking of broken quests, the game is laughably buggy, to the point where its almost unplayable if you don't heavily mod and patch it. Huge amounts of crashes and bugs that break any real immersion. The quest themselves ant much better, one you remove all the "Go to A and talk to B" quests there are less than probably 10 proper side quests with any real detail. About the same total quests as Fallout 3 had in Megaton.

The game reeks of expansion pack material padded out to be resold as a full price game, this wouldn't be too bad if people weren't eating up with their "I <3 Fallout" glasses on. The series was great yes but this is a sad and shallow addition too it which uses humor to hide its failings. Even the humor itself is weak with often no attempt to fit them in with context. "A supermutant with a wig... yeah sounds awesome, throw it in. Or I know! Ghoul space explorers!" Being thrown in because of the lols, even breaking some established ideas to do so. Like Glowing One ghouls no longer doing radiation damage.

People should try and judge these games that piggyback off previous success's without the rose tinted view or the love for the series blinding their judgement. Take off the fallout 3 label and call it "Wasteland Tales" and then this game wouldn't of even made it past launch.

Anyway, rant over.
You have to judge a game based on the game itself... I agree...

Don't judge the game based on its potential to be an expansion pack... Otherwise you are saying that Halo: Reach, ODST, Gears 2 and 3, Red Dead Redemption, and any other game that shares an IP and an engine (or even just an engine) are bad games.

New Vegas was good... It just had a lot of bugs.

EDIT: Also, stinkychops...

Chill the fuck out... No one cares how deep or "thought provoking" you think you are, you are just a troll...

You may not even know that you are trolling, but when you start making a huge issue out of absolutely nothing (not to mention being a pretentious douche in the process) you are, in fact, trolling.

Literally nothing you said for a multitude of posts actually contributed to the thread.

Also, you were even presented the opportunity to take the mature route and agree to disagree, but instead you had to push the issue and continue your off topic aspersion and slander.

EDIT: I could also rip apart your laissez-faire approach to grammar in a few of your posts, but some of us are actually aware that a few grammatical errors do not define a person.

Speaking of bugs.. did anyone ever try to play Fallout 2 unpatched? Between the front end of your car periodically vanishing and randomly gaining epic charisma, it was somewhere between hilarious and unplayable.

Games have always had bugs, and considering how much simpler fallout 1/2 were compared to New Vegas they were pretty much abominations on release. Interplay/Black Isle weren't exactly the heroes of bug free gaming.

As for 'brilliant roleplay experience', Fallout 2 had a scene where you climb down a well and quote the fucking Goonies.

Also if anyone is screwing up the lore of the Fallout universe, it's Bethesda. They killed Harold the bastards. They ruined the BoS. They resurrected a faction that was almost wiped out and now are somehow a massive force. They barely creatd anything new, for example why are there Super Mutants ont he East Coast, and even better ye, why are they so dumb and sound constipated all the time? why do we need to start a war over a purfier that was has a veryarbitrary purpose? How did a group of people strip apart a airport yet theycan't build a well?

And most of all, why does activating the GECK kill you?

Oh, did I mention they killed off Harold?
There are super mutants on the east coast because of FEV experiments at Vault 87. They are dumb because the scientists responsible couldn't get the variables right (overall I'd say this is better than having super mutants magically appear at Mariposa because of the Enclave digging out a hundred year old vat of FEV). Besides the fact that Eden's plans for the purifier involve ultimately killing everyone on the East Coast except those living in sealed vaults, fresh water was established as an important resource throughout the game. Megaton did have its own water purifier, it was implied that the groundwater was irradiated so wells didn't work.

Activating the purifier (not the GECK, which was stripped for parts and integrated into the purifier) kills you because the radiation levels in the chamber were incredibly high (for arbitrary reasons, but they'd at least established earlier that it could happen).

The story of fallout 3 was pretty shitty, but it wasn't that shitty.
