I was having this very thought myself not too long ago. Definitely would look forward and see that movie. It should start at the first game's story though. (says the man that never played Fallout 1)

And to be fair the Mad Max films were heavy influences on Fallout, right down to the one-sleeved leather jackets.j-e-f-f-e-r-s said:May I repeat what has already been said earlier in the thread? Go and watch the Mad Max films. All of them. That there is all the post-apocalyptic film fare you'll ever need.
I assume step one for that would be to have Ron Perlman do it.ygetoff said:fallout 3 would be the most "accessable" because it is on more systems...so the studio would probably choose that one...plus they could just get liam neelson to do the vault dweller's father...how would they recreate the ron perlman narration without it being very very hokey sounding?

Does it ever?
I mean giant scorpians, power armor, mutants = great video game stuff.
Not for movies.
yes, but whenever there is a narrative for movies, it sounds very hokey and contrived...especially the line "war. war never changes." it wouldnt sound right to me, not being in a videogame setting.LesIsMore said:And to be fair the Mad Max films were heavy influences on Fallout, right down to the one-sleeved leather jackets.j-e-f-f-e-r-s said:May I repeat what has already been said earlier in the thread? OroInvictus said:Unfortunately, there are many problems with trying to attempt a Fallout game-to-movie addaptation. The fact is that fallout is simply too unique. Yes it hilariously quotes and makes reference to movies such as Mad Max, A Boy And His Dog, Star Wars, Monty Python, etc. But its uniqueness is its ability to make you ponder the believability of its storyline and think about the possibility of it actually coming true, while you simultaniously laugh your ass off because you just melted a Super Mutant into a pile of goo while trying to test an anti-mutanagenic serum.
Also there are many variables. The storyline changes slightly if you are a good or evil. Karmatic elemnts are just one example. Video games themselves make a difficult foundation for a movie because, by making it a movie, you take away the interactivity that gave the game its primary appeal. For instance, the choice of slaughtering the entire town after you have gotten what you wanted from them.
Also, noone wants to watch a movie with the same overall storyline of the game that they have played a hundred times through. Taking away the interactivity, outlining a new storyline, while keeping the characters and appeal that we all love about Fallout would be an extremely difficult task to accomplish. I'm almost rooting against a movie for fear of being extremely disappointed and having an unfortunate blemish placed upon Fallout's flawless PC reputation. The movie may end up being as disappointing as the Playstation 2 adaptation of Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel.
