I'm sure forums like this have been done before. I just didn't really find any in my morning run-through. And last night when my wife and I went to see Wall-E (Hilarious movie, great job by Pixar as always) I found myself thinking;

"You know what would have amazing potential as a video-game movie..? Fallout. 'Nuff said"

Such a tremendous story, a wonderful environment to work with, the protagonist can easily be related to your every-day man...They just built it so well (in my opinion) I think, under the right director, and script writer..It could very well redeem the failing 'Video-game Movie' franchise.

Discuss?

Also, feel free to point out any other games that you feel have amazing movie potential, etc.
Watch "Mad Max" and "I am Legend" simultaneously, done deal.

Why in the start put a boundaries on Fallout, why thinking only a about one Movie when you have so much story ... let say for a TV Show or maybe mini series. Long TV CGI Show or with live actors. When I think about a Fallout Movie, all I see is very big problem making it without big cuts in the rich and good story-es. A maybe good movie will be a 2,5 - 3 hours long without maybe losing too much of great FALLOUT filling.

They didn't even make Fallout 3 anything like Fallout 1 or 2... why would a movie be like any of the three games? That having been said it makes it have the potential to be a really great movie purely because it doesn't have to rip solely on the game for it's inginuity (i definitley don't know how to spell that word). Of course, it does still have the potential to blow harder than a hooker on a mixture of speed and crack.

That would be so epically amazing. They'd have to sell three different versions. One for good karma, one for neutral, and one for evil. But besides the fact that you couldn't make choices in a movie, it would be fantastic...as long as they kept Bethesda in charge of the story.

I'd like an evil, sneaky protagonist for a change... Or maybe an interactive movie where you pick, good or evil, sneaky or not, etc...

Unless the directors and actors are people who have actually played and understand the game, and they don't make it low budget, it might be a favorable movie. But since that never happens, it would probably just be a crap movie like all the other game to movie ideas.

If this was done right, then it could work. Hollywood has a habit of fucking stuff up for ratings, though. I would see it regardless.

Of course this is a wonderful idea. As we all know every game to movie adaptation has been fantastic right? Right?

Yup. The game is entirely made out of choices. You'd end up with a bland shooter film because all the pop culture and movie references would have to be cut out, and there is no way to make your own film star.

Well I belive that the rights were bought by some dudes. (Can't remember the article)

I belive that the actual name Fallout has already been taken by some shitty film where an american astronought battles Russian Cosmonaughts. (I'm serious)

That sound you hear right now is me dragging my feet and screaming no.

Don't do that to the game. Game to film adaptations are almost always bad, and a blight on the honor of both mediums.

Nope. Lots of post-apocalyptic films about, many of which influenced Fallout.
Focus on making good games.
It'll probably get made regardless.
