Should I go with the NCR, or should I go with House? I'm debating, and my favorite companion is Veronica, and I heard that House's plotline requires that you destroy the brotherhood... I'd rather let them live, pretty much let everyone live (Except for the legion, which can bite my ass, and I want to have the worst ending they can get).

If you want everyone to live, go with NCR.

What's sad is that Obsidian, for some ungodly reason, cut out the House/BoS truce quest.

They also cut out the NCR/House truce quest.

NCR will provide the 'best' ending for you.

Also I think you can mod in the House/BoS truce quest via the New Vegas Nexus site.

I never bothered with most of the faction. The moment I had my first encounter with the BoS (Found a bunker. I was all "Sup guys." and they were all "*****, give us all your shit or we'll kill you." "No...I'll just leave." "NO! Give us your stuff! Now we put this bomb on you, now go and deal with this one guy." ....."No, fuck that.") I killed all of them. I slaughtered the Legion (Because seriously....fuck slaving and pretentious cocks). House was a dick and the NCR seemed rather...uninteresting. But I didn't kill NCR (And I only unplugged House from the....computers).

Caesaris manifestum erit.

The legion shall cleanse the remnants of the old world and remake it in Caesar's image.

Order to Chaos.

By the way, the brotherhood are dicks. Do Veronica's quest, convice her to join the followers of the apocolypse, see what happens and then tell me if you still want them around.

This.

I never understood why people are so sympathetic to the BoS that they would side with the cowards of the NCR just to save an isolationist chapter.

And make note that this is not the feel-good-do-good BoS of the East but rather the asshole kind of BoS of the West.

"Thumbs-down, you son of a *****!"

Anyway the only way you are going to save the brotherhood is to side with the NCR. If you want the "good" ending for most of your companions you have to side with the NCR I think. Although if you side with the legion Boone gets two really kick ass ones.

Just do all 4 and while your at it install multiple mods as well try multiple builds in each faction play through and before you know it you have clocked in 500 hours +.

I joined all the factions! >:D Mostly because I am obsessed with junk and wanted access to all the safehouses. (NCR, Legion, BOS, and Follows of the Apocalypse?)

First playthrough, I went with the NRC because even though they aren't even...well, really good, they were the best option for me.

New Vegas doesn't offer clean-cut "easy" choices.

The NCR comes closest to recreating pre-War conditions, and this isn't saying much, considering how those settlements it rolls over in its expansion are either destroyed or absorbed and stuck to redirect their resources towards the greater mass, instead of the local community.

The Legion offers support, sure, but Caesar's vision of Roman society is horribly skewed thanks to the only bits of known history remaining being found in a handful of books and Hollywood recreations. Everything we can credit the Romans for, he stomps on. All he cares about is power and absolute control - which is something that's hard to maintain once the man that was holding it dies.

The Brotherhood of Steel is obsolete and in no way related to the nice and congenial "renegades" from Fallout 3, with their more humanitarian goals. The Great Khans are a group of bandits and drug peddlers.

Then there's Mister House, who can't look for anything else other than Number One's profits, viability and maintained power. The rest of the Mojave can crumble apart for all he cares - only Vegas needs to endure.

If you go with Yes Man, all of these groups end up shafted and you're placed in power, effectively securing a situation that mirrors House's, except for where a living, breathing human is going to offer a face for those in the Mojave who seek governance to look at. The Courier won't last as long as House, obviously, but maybe he or she doesn't need to.

No matter what you pick, innocents will die. Some people will suffer no matter what stakes you consider. New Vegas isn't like Fallout 3 in the sense that there isn't one clear-cut faction to consider if you feel like "winning" the game as a good guy.

The one option which, in my very humble opinion, seems to mitigate losses adequately would be the NCR. I've never been a fan of Scorched Earth tactics, and House's goals don't sit too well with me. The Brotherhood's a bunch of bigots and the Legion rewards moral depravity.

If all you're concerned about is political or social stability, however, then take your pick. Each of the factions offer the same potential as the other.

House is probably the best option but i choose to take it all for myself...me and Yes-Man that is.

Best. Ending. Ever.

Because a group that tried and failed more than two millenia ago is certainly not part of the old world.

I will cleanse the ENTIRE world and remake it in the image of a gaping crater, finishing what the bombs couldn't do.

Well if you like the Brotherhood, definitely go NCR, you can form a truce between them provided Elder Mcnammara is in charge. Considering the Brotherhood likes to hoard technology, they won't be very happy seeing a whole bunch of upgraded securitrons guarding New Vegas. So House wants them out of the picture before hand to avoid problems.

I personally like to choose Yes Man. While an independent Vegas has a much more uncertain future, I feel that if I made the right choices, the Mojave will thrive. It all comes down to interpretation I suppose. Plus you can still make the truce between the NCR and the BoS, it's just that things won't end as well for the NCR

Well, they succeeded for several centuries before they failed. It certainly had a better run than the in-universe USA did.

Judging by your comment, though, i'd guess that you sided with... Ulysses?

Uh-huh. Because the actions of the murderous few are always indicative of the attitudes of the many.
As far as we can tell, that's one squad of zealots (acting independently or on clandestine orders from the xenophobic dick who is trying to take over for the current elder... whose name escapes me at the moment) who either try to kill you or wipe out the Followers outpost, depending on your choices.

OT: First reply was /thread. Due to the removal of quests to reconcile House with those he would have you needlessly murder, he's not the best choice for Vegas' future. Pity they had to make him an unreasonable megalomaniac simply due to time constraints.
