The only problem with that is that Dick Greyson is the Robin who becomes Nightwing, not this new guy.

But since Nolan's Robin is an amalgamation of various other robins and not Dick Grayson.
He can't be Nightwing. At least not the existing Nightwing.
Is that your point? That Batman can be dead because there's a Robin in play (But not Dick Grayson).
my point is that since the nolan robin is a collection of various robins, he might skip the robin step and become the closest thing to batman: nightwing.
so we may not see another batman movie but a robin/nightwing spin off in the future.
You don't honestly think that WB is just going to let go of their Batman cash cow do you? I would bet you dollars to doughnuts that we will see a Batman reboot in the next two years. It wont be a Christopher Nolan style Batman movie perhaps, but I can't even believe for a second that they would just jump to Nightwing. Nightwing is not widely known. Heck, the only reason Marvel got away with Thor (a super hero that most of your average movie goers know little about) is because they announced ahead of time that all the movies would tie into an Avengers flick.
My guess is that WB has dreams of a Justice League movie and there is actually evidence of it in Green Lantern.
This character is Amanda Waller, she is kind of like the Nick Fury for some of the newer Justice League stuff. Less of a super hero and more of a coordinator though. Her inclusion clues us into the idea that they want to do a Justice League thing. The only problem was that Christoper Nolan was so against the idea of 'his' Batman being included in a Justice League film that WB was unable to try and add clues to a JL movie in there for fear of loosing the director that had 'redefined' Batman for them.
Christopher Nolan has been quoted as saying things like, If they ever include Robin in my Batman films I wont do it.
What I found to be the most odd thing about TDKR is that there are all sorts of references to the Batman comic continuity in this final movie (See the latest from Movie Bob for more details about it). Do you know what this screams to me? It screams that WB was desperate to try and rekindle the hardcore Batman comic fans interest so they could set it up for a reboot that would be able to include JL. Then they can just write off the Nolan films as 'alternate universe' just like DC loves to do when they screw something up and the fans don't like it.

That's what I thought until I realized his name was "Robin" John Blake.
At first I couldn't see them doing a Robin film and figured they'd go straight to Nightwing and do the Robin stories when Christian Bale needed more money.
But since they specifically tied him to Robin (Making sure even non-nerds got who he was.) It doesn't make sense to skip the Robin stories and go to Nightwing who many people won't know (Especially when its not even the Nightwing Robin; RJB could become Red Robin instead of Nightwing)
I think it's guaranteed we're getting a Robin movie in some form; I just don't think its gonna be a Nightwing movie.
But if Hollywood thinks it can turn a dollar; never rule out any sequel; prequel or movie idea. Hollywood is shameless.
I don't think there is enough average movie goer interest in creating a Robin movie. Robin to most people is either the doofy Dick Grayson Robin from Batman and Robin (which fans HATE) or the Dick Grayson Robin from Batman TAS who only appeared in 30 of the 85 episodes. A Robin movie would either be weaksauce that is totally unrelated to Robin at all, or it would be very hard for the average movie goer to even follow it. Heck, I am willing to be that most average movie goers don't even know there are multiple Robins.
I think they only threw that Robin bit in there for the eventual reboot of Batman (See above). That way they can throw Robin into a JL movie. It will be one more name that people can recognize. JL has a lot of non mainstream heroes in it. Unless they go with a more Super Friends route and only inclued Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman & Robin and Aquaman. But if they were going for that, why bother with a Green Lantern movie?
Can you imagine the average movie goer's reaction to a character like Martian Manhunter?
Either way WB will run it into the ground. They already proved that can't handle the super hero movies with Green Lantern. The only reason the Batman movies wound up as good as they are is because Christopher Nolan's death grip on what was allowed and what was not allowed to appear in 'his' Batman films.
