Far Cry 2 for $10, worth it?

Steam's selling Far Cry 2 for $10 bucks, and I wanted an opinion before I pull the trigger. I'm pretty poor at the moment, 25 bucks is all the cash I have. But the only games I have at the moment are Team Fortress 2 and STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl seeing as my PS3 died due to human moron-ness.

So, worth it?

Fucking yes, don't believe all the tripe you hear, it's a brilliant game. I gladly would have payed $50 for it knowing what I know now.


People who says it's the worst thing since E.T. are either just mindlessly channeling yahtzee, or don't have the imagination\patience to play Open world shooters and thus bash the genre on principle. (crysis, STALKER ect.)

yes even if you just mess around with the map editor the whole time, because its fantastic, the editor that is the game is awful.

Oh yes. For $10, even if you don't complete it, you'll get more than enough fun out of it.

I really wonder when people write stuff like this. Do people run everywhere instead of crouch, scrawl and sneak? Because I've stealthed through most missions without being caught until the last minute. Whenever I've wanted to, I've passed checkpoints unseen. And this was on the hardest setting.

Steam has two sales a week. If you're not surethat you want this game you can wait till next week, it might be something you'll be more excited about.

That said, as long as you don't go into far cry 2 with too much expectation, and enjoy shooters, you should like it just fine.

I got it for free and only played it for 3 hours before I decided it sucked.

It's just not a good game.

spend the 10$ on some nails and a hammer, stick them through your hands and run round claiming you are the second coming.
It'll be less painful, and more fun.

The game starts off weak and only goes downhill, there's no "fun" in it, there's no variety, theres unbearable awful driving sequences in every mission and each involves you running into enemy convoys every 5 minutes, you don't gain anything from these meetings and all they do is sap your will to play til you wonder why you bothered buying it in the first place.
The world is samey and boring, which explains the fact that there is no incentive to explore, and as you can tell from the ZP review, there is no driving motive to the missions.
But enjoy it. 10$ isn't really much at all, but you'd get more mileage out of something like KOTOR which is about the same off sale.

I pirated the game back when i was still in school and still managed to feel cheated by it.

That worth it, the game has really really good map making (Like perfect lord of the rings maps, like that huge tower) and a decent story (The story does kinda have a shitty second half but since its down to cheapy chips price I say buy it)

I enjoy the game. The missions are a bit repetitive, but they're fun anyway, so you still enjoy yourself. I haven't had that much of a problem with stealth, but I snipe usually. It's a good game, and $10 is a bargain.

I'd turn it down if I was offered it for free. Being bored because I have nothing to do is much better than being bored because I'm playing that awful game.

If you lose cash, then you have lost the game, cause Far Cry 2 was pretty shit, friend.
Get Far Cry 1, more fun.
