I actually really like the uber-sandbox feel of this game. If you don't like driving around so much use the fast travel system. But i did agree with you on the savegame system, and some of the missions do get tedious. All in all I very much enjoyed this game.

Funny how it got great reviews in almost every major source.

Then agin, so did Prince of Persia.

Ubisoft must be sending chocolate cakes and cocaine to critics.
Well Far Cry 2 and Prince of Persia both had one good thing in common:

They were both gorgeous to look at. Maybe that's all critics care about.
It would seem this way.

The graphics were all the critics raved about when Gears 2 came out to 10/10 reviews everywhere.

None of them seemed to mind the pathetic friendly AI, sleep-inducing tank sections or utterly broken difficulty spikes...

Also: Damn you for quoting me so quickly before I could go back and edit my typos! :p

No it really doesnt it really really really really doesnt. As soon as you think it is over and you can finally say okie dokie i dont have to play it anymore it pops you into another place exactly identicle to where you were. Potentially it is a fun sandbox game to dick around with especially with the fire and planning an attack on an enemy position. Although it is just as effective to run in and shoot everybody. All in all though its a piece of shit.

It's one of those games that looks good on paper, but fails to deliver.

It doesn't get better. The best part of it all is that you're going to get a second map just like this one...

As I've said countless of times before, Far Cry is a game with a good engine, and a really great overworld, but they forgot to add the gameplay. There's a lot of good things in the game, but none of them add up to anything.

I, personally, loved FC2 once I "made myself" play it. I sat down, put it in and played it for a day. Loved every moment of it, once I got started.

Unless you go completely gung-ho, you shouldn't die too often. Sniper rifles are a near must for it, though.

Crytek games are of an acquired taste. It's like trying to make work fun, at the end of the day, it's still work. I still like Crysis though.

EDIT: Whoops I forgot Crysis 2 is made by Ubisoft Montreal. Still a similar type of feel from it though IMHO.

I say the most fun is online with Farcry 2. The sigle player is okay, but nothing really to shout about. Also, have you had a go with the map editor? Hours and hours of my evenings have been spent on that.

Should I persist or just bring it back to the shop and get Saints Row 2?
It doesn't get better. FarCry 2 is, well, a far cry from the original. It's awful. The multiplayer is average at best, though the map creation system is great. Doesn't make it worth keeping though.

Get Saint's Row 2 and be happy, since Saint's Row 2 is one of the best games out there.

Try the multiplayer.

The single player campaign may not be as good as the origional, but the mutliplayer has deffinitly improved.

Sniper Rifles make the game too easy but without them your usually the one to get shot at first

also Crysis 2 is being made by CRYTEK not Ubisoft

Far Cry 2 was developed by ubisoft though and it shows too

I mean I've played my share of ubisoft games involving guns and one of the first things I noticed is that the AK sounds like all the other AKs in the ubisoft games (Rainbow six, splinter cell)

No it doesn't get any better then that. My friend only made it 50% of way through before giving up and i only made it 70%. Saving is a chore but i find that if i keep my secondary buddy on call to revive me and purchase extra health needles i don't have to worry about enemies. Again saving is hard if you want to save but if you don't worry about it (and i wouldn't if you have a buddy on call) then you realize you actually save allot assuming you ride the bus (the only form of fast travel). There is one saving grace and that is that if you love to explore (and not find anything while you do so) then far cry is the game for you because half way though the game the game map doubles but really its not worth it and i would rather have saints row especially after yahtzee's review.

Heh, you must have clicked that about a second after I posted it, because I edited it in saying Ubisoft Montreal did it. But it's still pretty much similar to FarCry, in the sense that it feels like work.

i played to about 65% completed and i say, no it doesnt get better. the guards will not stop respawnig no matter how many times you kill them, you never get aligned with a side so the only friendly AI throughout are your buddies. and no matter how well hidden you think you are patrols will always see and attack you. the underground missions and your malaria stay annoying through the whole game and you do the same three missions over and over.
