Far Cry 3 and Uplay, is Uplay bad enough to avoid a sale on it?

On Game Fly they have a FarCry bundle, for 50% which add in the their coupon code brings it to about 30$, now on the games alone that is worth it for me having played Far Cry 3 on Xbox 360, loving it, and wanting Blood Dragon, so with the first 2 games with that that is a good deal for me.

What I would like to know is how people have been finding UPlay since it is needed for FC3 and Blood Dragon. Keep in mind I judged Origin ok enough in its current state to get the EA humble bundle a couple months ago and have not has to many problems. How does UPlay compare, is it okay like Origin, is it the spawn of sin like GFWL, or does it not even bother you. And specifically for Far Cry 3, I have heard that some things have been persistent online required, like Anno 2077 I think, and some have been sign in once. So what is Uplay like, It is easy enough to ignore/deal with, or should I avoid on UPlay alone.

Also does any one know if the Gamely Digital Key is for Steam or Uplay, because what I said is only if I can get it on Steam, if Gamefly Key is for Uplay then no deal immediately.

I've only ever used Uplay for Far Cry 3. I had no issues with it. It was fast, stable and didn't annoy me too much.

Uplay is a mild irritation at best. Other than the initial aggravation of setting it up, it's a total non issue. It's no GFWL.

It's not that bad but not that amazing either. It's just kind of there, it works when I want it to but it never made me want to explore all it had to offer either. Though I do like how it gives you points for achievements which you can use to unlock little bonus stuff, that's a cool idea at the very least.

While it's nothing special it shouldn't be a deal breaker for the Far Cry Bundle.

Do you know if the bundle gives a Uplay Key or a Steam key, while a lot of Game Fly games gave steam keys, I know EA games gave Origin Keys. would it tell me in the email with the keys for the game.

According to what I see on a google search it says it's a Uplay code so I'm assuming that's what it would be on. Though I have never bought anything on Gamefly so I wouldn't know 100%.

Alright, thank you. I tried searching that myself but could not find any thing. If the 3 of you that responded say its not that bad then I'm going for it.

Uplay is fine. It's not great, but it is not bad and I don't mind using it. You should still get Far Cry 3.

I rather like UPlay, has an offline mode, you can use "points" you get for achievements in games to buy what other companies would call DLC and charge for. It's not really all that intrusive, I would kind of like others like Steam or Origin to adopt some of UPlay's features.

It's bad. I've had to reinstall the damn thing a few times because it wouldn't work. It's worse than Steam or Origin at any rate (at least they've never cut me off from playing, even if it is only temporarily), but probably not enough to warrant passing the game entirely. It's more an annoyance than anything else. Like Origin, just uninstall it when you're done with the game and forget about it.

I don't like it but it's not a huge deal. It's a little irritating when you go to launch a game on Steam it launches UPlay first THEN the game. Just a little annoyance really.

Farcry 3 is worth putting up with it.

It's simply an annoyance.

The worst thing about Uplay for me, is that the game doesn't have Steamworks integrated into it - so many features I love are simply missing. Like Steam achievements for one..

With GFWL finally dying off its now in contention for being the worst Distribution method.

However unlike GFWL it's stable and does it's job.

If the bundle includes Blood Dragon as well, then go for it.

While its interesting, it certainly isn't a trainwreck like GFWL, but nowhere near as good as Steam. Origin is better, only slightly, in comparison. Steam > Origin > UPlay > GFWL (the gap between UP and GFWL is much higher than I can express with symbols)

I've been playing Blood Dragon for a while and in my experience Uplay has been a non-entity. True, it's a bit annoying that Steam calls Uplay rather than Steam calling the actual game, but Uplay is so stable and so minimal that I barely notice its involvement.

Uplay is definitely a reason for me to avoid a game. I just re-downloaded that latest crappy ghost recon game last week after their "latest game patch" and all the problems still go unfixed. If you have dual monitor you still have to use your second monitor while playing (wth that doesn't even make sense, did they actually test this game for shit like this?), and your damn lucky if you can connect with a friend for coop or multiplayer, the game is still broken 2 years later after a shit-ton of patches.

Uplay is a massive waste of time and only adds to the frustration where steam would have more than sufficed.

I got a free Assassin's Creed 3 game from buying a video card. Instead of giving me a code to put on my Uplay account I got a code to BUY it free off of the store. But instead of being able to add it to my account I was given a shitty stand alone downloader that couldn't continue a download to save its own ass...I'm not the kind of person, but I would have had infinitely less trouble just pirating the game...That's how you know your service/promotion is terrible.
