I'm guessing Valve told Ubisoft to stop forcing uplay on their customers, which made Ubi angry so they took their ball and went home.
Also, they have been removed from US market as well.
Well, I can find ACU on my Steam client, and it's still available to add to cart in the US.

And I think that probably rules out the former part.

Well I guess if I have to play those games, I will be getting physical copies, Uplay is fucking annoying, had to make an account just to patch gamebreaking AC4 bugs, basically holding their game hostage so you can get more people to sign up for their shitty client.
Don't even bother you'll just end up having your save file vanish into the ether when they cut the backup functionality three months into the product.

Hey Ubisoft, would you like a a new shovel? You seem to be pretty enthusiastic about that whole you're digging I figured you might want to use some help.

*Gives you a brand new state of the art*
Stop saying ridiculous things. Ubisoft ain't going to get buried by Valve, especially as from what I've heard EA has Ubisoft's back (good heel tag team).

If it isn't available on steam or from someone like GoG who don't believe in drm then it isn't available on pc in my eyes. I have had issues with UPlay of late anyway, but I have partly forgiven them sice Ubi at least tried to integrate it with Steam so I didnt have to install something else - this seems to change things however.
So you mention GoG because of no drm...yet also mention Steam who some people seem to love to gloss over...is also drm.
You'd think the PC platform was some sort of "Steam box" with how much valvites have gone about this.

Okay, it's as simple as this: I don't want to have to buy games from Uplay for my own reasons. If you have no problem using and buying games from Uplay then good for you.
I don't use Uplay (on PC) if you must know, not an Ubisoft guy. Only had to pay for one game of theirs (on console, rest free), works out well.

... You have to have Uplay even if you get it from Steam anyway. In no way can this be classified as hostage taking...as always.

Remember kids, Kinguin is your friend. [link]www.kinguin.net[/link]

Filthy fuckers trying to charge more for no extra work.
However even kinguin cannot solve connection issues with uplay, especially during big launches.

I like that with uPlay achievements are actually rewarded. On Steam whenever I get an achievement it just seems kind of lack luster. "Yeaaaaah, you did it... What, do you want a cookie or something?" On uPlay you get points for the achievements you earn, which you can then spend on extra small tid-bits of content, like new weapons in Far Cry 3, new cars in Watch_Dogs, and background and whatnot. It actually makes me want to go out of my way to get the achievements, rather than, as on Steam, just swing at them as they fly by.

How is this a valid criticism? It's up to each developer to decide if they want to give you rewards for achievements. You can't expect Valve to integrate achievement rewards in games that aren't their own. They have achievement rewards in TF2 because it's their game.

Wait a minute....they want £50 for AssCreed Unity? Is it two games in one, and that's why it's called Unity and almost double what a new game should cost? Does it come with uber collectibles? Fifty quid is extortion for anything short of a super-collectors ed.

This right here is why a store bought disk will ALWAYS be better than a digital purchase.
Except that majority of store bought discs for PC games you have to end up downloading when putting that disc in anyways. There is no advantage to having a physical copy except to take up space.

What some people don't seem to understand is that Steam has too much of a head start for anyone to take it down now. I don't particularly like any form of drm, but Steam isn't going away and unlike some of the other drm platforms (Origin and Uplay) I have never had any issues with it. If game devs want to include drm with their games they are going to have to put it on the existing platform, because I am not having another shitty program taking up resources on my pc. Uplay barely works as it is never mind if it has to be its own independent platform as well.

They could alternately put it on GoG, but since we both know that won't happen especially with a company like Ubisoft Steam is the next least shit option.
