Virtual Boy was fine. I actually quite enjoyed it.

Farmville however is a mindless stupid piece of software that needs to be put onto a single CD and then thrown into the sun and forgotten about.

Anyone that disagrees will be compressed into a transporter beam data stream...ALSO shoved into that CD or DVD and thrown into the sun as well. LOL!!!!!

I'm not sure FarmVille counts as a game.

It's more of a "click'n'forget" time-passer/time-sink combo.
This describes approximately 99% of all MMOs I've ever seen, which makes it sound hypocritical at best...
If I could have all the time I wasted on Runescape back when I was 12.....

Hmmmm, well my big issue here is that some of the things on that list are actually fairly useful and successful products. For example while I don't use them my Stepmother swears by "Crocs" even if they are pretty ugly looking.

I mean The Virtual Boy was a whole hearted failure, but Farmville as horrendous as it is, is a very successful formula as ridiculous as it is.

Asbestos is a mixed blessing as far as I've heard, while it was found to be dangerous, especially old Asbestos, as insulation it apparently worked fairly well. It's hard to say whether it was a net gain or loss in the equasion of lives/health saved/lost.

To each their own however, I don't like any of the things I saw on that list personally. :p

Farmville is way too popular for its own good, but one of the worst "inventions" (if you can call a flash game an invention) ever made? I've played far worse games than Farmville. Virtual Boy though? Yeah, definitely belongs on there (heck, that's the system that indirectly killed one of the industry's best minds [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunpei_Yokoi]).

MMMMMMMMMMM. Justice.
Yeah, I mean, Farmville makes millions but being put in some article by a bunch of good-for-nothings as a bad invention will have the creators crying themselves to sleep at night.

Go sweet justice.....
Wow, you must be the most joyful and optimistic person you know, am I right?

You do things your way, they do things their way, I do things my way. Good-for-nothings? TIME is the most known and popular magazine on the planet. The point will get across.

the worst invention ever is Justin beiber. he's so bad he takes all 10 spots.
He's, like, thirteen. Let it go, this site's obsession with him is beyond creepy...

OT - I'd say Farmville is at LEAST better than the Mafia Wars style self-fill progress bar. Farmville has some gameplay.

I am joyful and optimistic. So much so that I can laugh at bitter people like you and TIME magazine who think they're getting the one up on a multi-million business by writing nonsensical hate articles on them.

Then you say we should respect people wanting to do things their own way yet it's OK to criticize everyone who enjoys Farmville?

As for TIME being a popular magazine, Zoo is also a pretty popular magazine. Doesn't mean their ideas are worth a dime. Especially if they think a cheap 2D online videogame that makes millions is one of the worst inventions in the world. I consider it to be a pretty damn awesome invention. I wish I'd come up with it, as right now I'd be writing this message inside a house made of solid gold. And I'm sure you and the majority of people here secretly enviable too.

...That's IT? It's a 'worst invention' because it consists of "mindless chores on a digital farm"?

...Yeah, whatever. What about every other game on Facebook? When my Mum looses hours a day shuffling coloured blocks in Bejewelled, I don't think "By God, that game is the worst invention since Asbestos!"

Why does Farmville get pointed at specifically? (Unless the actual article puts more stress on the origins of Farmville than this news thread does.)

-1 respect for Time Magazine.

Farmville to me is a game that prioritizes the same feeling you get when you have to collect all the collectibles in a sandbox game. (GTA for example, hidden packages) Its a game that is solely around that feeling.
I find that extremely boring. Like playing an mmorpugguh by yourself.

How can you compare ZOO to the fucking TIME magazine? One is about tits, the other is journalism. And since ZOO is on sale only in the US, Australia and South Africa while TIME is distributed even in Romania, I can say that your comparison is full of holes. You may think it is an awesome invention, well done you. So is smoking by some people. The Smoking Industry also lives in a house of gold. Wanna join them?

When I said they do things their way, I was referring to the TIME magazine people, not the Farmville players. But seeing as you mentioned them, they can do whatever they want with their time. I criticize the game. It is named Farmville yet when you boil it down, it has nothing to do with how tiresome and soul-consuming the life at a farm can sometimes get. I know cause I have worked in one. I have shoveled shit, my friend. Literally. And let me tell you, it's no game.

You can go ahead and laugh at me. But since from the 2 of us, I seem to be the one that revels even in small victories, I'd say you are the bitter person here.
