Wilful ignorance.

I understand the 'ignorance is bliss' claim, but when it's going to cause a lot of problems in the future, you really need to rethink your stance.

because it relieves large ammounts of tension

Haha, good joke guys.
well it helps me when i'm stressed out.. i don't do it to offend or to try and look 'cool'
A smoker at their calmest is still almost always going to have more overall stress than a non-smoker. It relieves stress in the same way ceasing to hit yourself with a sledgehammer does: At least your better than before, but that still isn't too great.

Okay, I did make that a little murky trying to incorporate that sledgehammer comparison.

Basically what I'm saying is that smoking may relieve stress, but it's a cycle that feeds itself: Because you smoke, you are stressed, and therefore must smoke.

ahh right, this may be the case for some people, personally i only smoke when i am stressed or drunk, i wouldnt say the smoking feeds a cycle but it may do for others..

in fairness i did like the sledgehammer example =P

Ah, ok. I guess when I think smoking I can't help but assume there's also some addiction factor there. And now, On Topic:

We watched a video of one extremely fundamentalist Christian sect that basically says that if you get sick, the only way that can be cured is by the will of God- modern medicine is a mortal sin. It really, reeaally pissed me off, because this family's 16 year old daughter, who OBVIOUSLY had every classic symptom of diabetes, and could have been fixed with a simple insulin injection, instead chose to carry on without. She went into a coma and died two days later.

It just hit kind of close to home, and while I try to vrespect people's religions, this family lets their children, be they 8( they also had an 8 year old son who died of an ear infection prior to that) or 16, die of something as simple as an ear infection or something catachable with a proven countermeasure, like diabetes.

This. Although a friend once told me it's an icebreaker.
He goes out for a smoke and he can ask anyone for a light or a drag or whatever. Granted he is then hitting on someone who will taste like an ashtray, but whatever.

People that complain when the world doesn't hand them everything on a silver platter.

Example:
"I came home last night and my mom didn't have dinner ready so I had to eat a sandwich my life is the worst".

Uh....stfu.
Make something yourself or be grateful for what you have.
I take it that means you hate about 90% of the comments made on www.fmylife.com.
Yeah I personally can't get around why people can't understand certain things in class, like rearranging equations in my Fluid Mechanics lectures, when I find something so dead easy its very hard for me to explain it since it just becomes natural. Hence I can never understand why some people can't understand certain things.

I also don't understand how people can insult me for not drinking enough yet I have no right to tell them that they're getting drunk like 5times a week. I also don't get people who call other drinks, unmanly or a woman's drink.

Yeah I can't stand that website.
Also sometimes you just want a fruity and delicious drink! What's wrong with that?
Also, people insult you for not drinking enough because they are insecure about the facts that they are alcoholics. I only started drinking when I was 23 and even then it was a glass of wine here or there with a nice meal.
People get threatened by the fact that you don't need to drink your face off to have a good time so they attack you for it. Happened to me during my whole sobriety period.

This, and "Why the hell would you drink alcohol?".
Because having a few drinks isn't a bad thing. Constantly getting drunk however, is a problem
Sorry to burst your bubble but a new advert suggest any more than the RDA (if you could call it an RDA) says that it can give you all kinds of diseases and cancer.

And since I have survived over 2 years without so much as a Christmas pudding soaked in alcohol, why do want/need a few pints? It is totally unnecessary, a waste of money and I am betting a few pints does nothing for you.

I just can't see the reasoning in "having a few" or getting wasted, Think of all the drunk drivers that have caused accidents, all the fights, all the body organs that could have gone to more deserving people, all the beaten wives and children and all the unplanned kids due to this one substance.

I know no matter what I say it will have no effect on anybody who reads this, it's just my opinion.

Which is why I don't preach and why I put that last line in there, I think it's stupid to do but people will look at my arm (which is almost covered in a single tattoo) and think I am stupid so each to there own.

Why do people talk about things they know nothing about. One guy called Rammstein death metal. I wanted to slap the ***** very hard.
I know what you mean, whenever I show people some Rammstein songs they always jump to the conclusion that they're Neo-Nazi's and their music is about jew killing or something.

Thanks.

I hate twilight as much as the next person but using as a reason to not like somebody (either friendship or partner) is a little extreme, don't yout think?

People who are really arrogant with egos the size of the continent that they're standing on. Also people who think that they're always right and you're wrong (unless you agree). You know, Creationist that say "Believe in God or go to Hell" Atheists who say "God is stupid, and creationists are fools" and just about everyone on Xboxlive.
(Also to avoid angry Moderators and scary flame wars, I will say this: I dont care if you believe in a god or not, I respect your beliefs anyways.)
